That game is for 2nd place in the conference 8 games into the season. OU would be one game up on KSU, OSU and ISU plus have the tie breaker over Baylor. OU will also have played one of the more difficult schedules in the conference.

I know many of you have no faith. I say if the crowd fills the LNC and is nasty OU can run KSU off its home court.

OU can absolutely win this game.
It's going to take playing a LOT cleaner than 2 weeks ago in Manhattan, and better defense on McGruder though.

This is a huge game. Beat K-State at the LNC, and OU has a great shot to go 8-1 (or better) at home in conference play. This would also easily qualify as a “quality win” come tournament selection time.

We do need a big crowd. I will be there. It should be a lot of fun.

The interesting thing is Baylor actually had a higher RPI yesterday than K-State does.

No faith? I expect OU to win on Saturday. If you had asked me yesterday, I would have told you that OU had a better chance of beating KSU at home than Baylor in Waco.

If OU wins on Saturday, it will guarantee them at least 3 wins in that brutal 7 game stretch which is what I think OU needed to position themselves for a NCAA tourney berth. Now, if they can get to 4 or 5 wins in that stretch, then OU is playing for seed.

Show of hands...before the season started who thought that 8 games into conference play we could be in second place?

Granted I HOPED we would be there, but I really didn't think it could happen.

im not impressed with KSU. i think they are way overrated. we hung with them last time and played like crap. we better beat those tools

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but some of that has to do with how bad the Big 12 is right now. I really like where OU is as a program and a team right now, but most seasons, this OU team finishes outside the top 2-3 in the Big 12. That is what makes preseason projections so difficult. Had I known what kind of product some of these other Big 12 teams were going to put on the floor, my preseason view of OU might have been a touch different.

I think before the season, it was pretty well documented that spots 3-8 were going to be sort of a toss up. Agree though, the Big XII is down.

Huge game. I wanted to win 2 of 4 starting last night and we already have one. This is the next one I want the most. I know we can win this one IF we take care of the ball. I am hoping that the win last night gets more people there for the game and gives us an advantage. I'd love to see a student section like we had against Texas.

I disagree about wanting this next one the most. Having a win vs Kansas would be a much bigger boost to OU's resume. Of course, that is the one OU is least likely to win and this next one vs KSU is the one they most likely win.

The OKC Thunder is playing on the road Saturday night. We can hope that some of the OU/Thunder fans go to the LNC Saturday.

I hope you're right. But, as an OU grad, I would always favor OU over the Thunder, unless Tiny Gallon and Tommy Mason-Griffin somehow return to the team. The alma mater should always trump the NBA team up the road.

all of college basketball is "down"

That's true. And I believe all the talk about the Big XII being "so" down this season is way overemphasized. Yes, several teams are rebuilding after losing players with "star" status, but as far as talent goes, we're on equal footing with almost every major conference.

I don't have any idea how many teams the Big XII will get into the dance this year. But I expect the ones that get there will be competitive and will have nothing to apologize for when all is said and done.

People are touting the RPI...but by conference the Big XII is 5th. Usually it is in the 1-3 range.

even in the rpi the "top" of the conf is pretty good .. we are hurt by how bad TCU and tech are

RPI top 50 teams

Big east 8 out of 15
BIG 7 out of 12
Big 12 6 out of 10 (really 6 of top 41)
MWC 4 out of 9
ACC 4 out of 12
PAC12 4 out of 12
SEC 4 out of 14
A10 4 out of 16
CUSA 2 out of 12

Yes, can't argue with that. A better way for me to have stated this is that I would be most disappointed by a loss at home to KSU vs a loss at ISU or home loss to KU. We have a chance for any or all of them though. A home win vs KU would be very nice and those of us who live in the KC area would get even more enjoyment from it. :ez-laugh:
