Scott Drew

Scott Drew's last 4 seasons include: elite 8, elite 8, NIT champions. Lon Kruger is 18 years older and has been to the elite 8 twice.

But hey, there is a large segment of society who believe what they believe evidence be damned. Lemmings.

An average bench coach may have already won a title with his players. Part of being a coach is recruiting, communicating and motivating; we know that. I have yet to read one post which says Scott Drew is a joke in regards to those qualities. We make fun of him because there are times he looks completely lost on the bench. What part of that is so hard to understand?

I would rate Scott Drew as the 5th or 6th best overall head coach in the conference. I would rate him 2nd in recruiting, 4th in the ability to communicate and motivate, and 10th for his bench coach skills. That averages out to be in the 5-6 range...and if Baylor wins the 2014 conference tournament, he'll still be in the 5-6 range.

Just because no one agrees with you it doesn't mean they are lemings. Drew is perfect for Baylor. I'll just leave it at that.

I laugh when people say he is a bad coach. His X's and o's might not be the best but he can recruit and his results have been good. Results dictate how good a product is.

He has taken Baylor to the NCAA 4 or 5 times in 8 years. Makes him a pretty good coach.

Results dictate he was a better coach. Why because his team waxed our team.

Pretty simple concept.

Be careful with that wax brah. That was his first win against OU in the last 5 tries.

First of all we didn't get waxed. We had an opportunity to pull that game out. Relax. Hell number 3 Villanova lost in their tourney against an unranked opponent.

Yes we were flat, but the Baptists came out in a ball pressuring sort of 3-2 zone. I know they didn't play us this way the two times we played them this year. The emphasis was on allowing us to drive but to stick to the shooters. Tech kind of did the same only out of a man. Same principle - don't collapse on the driver. It was pretty effective. I'm not a Drew fan at all, but he called a good game tonight.

Baylor waxed us tonight. Drew was the better coach tonight he won and OU was never in it.

Okay maybe not waxed but Baylor scored first and never trailed or was tied, not for one second after the first score. Had a double digit lead the majority of the game.

Can't really argue with that.

Villanova's probably the worst top 5 team I've ever seen. I don't think they're even top 10 good. Maybe not even top 15. And no, that's not based on yesterday's result. Felt like that for a few weeks now.

Those who are saying Scott Drew is a bad coach please stand up. The team he has put together has abused 3 teams in KC.

4 games in 4 days will be to much for any team to overcome but this 3 game run has been impressive.

What do you say now? Is he still a bad coach?

He can beat ISU too especially if one of their big's gets in foul trouble. ISU has the same match up problem we do.

Just because Jeff Capel took OU on an Elite 8 run didn't make him a good coach, and Baylor winning the last 3 games doesn't make Drew a good coach. The bottom line is that Drew has championship talent and underachieved with said talent... Mark my words... They will get bounced the first weekend of the tournament.

Drew has taken Baylor to two elite 8s, won the NIT and this is his 3rd time in the Big XII championship game. His performance in tournaments is outstanding.

I'm like most Sooner fans that post here as we think we can probably win a game a year against Baylor just on the coaching advantage of Kruger over Drew. But if you look at Drew from Baylor's perspective you get a totally different picture.

Drew has led the bears to 15 of their 18 all time post season victories. Prior to Drew's arrival Baylor had only had 3 twenty win seasons. Under Drew they have had 5 including one 30 win year. Also has a 15-3 post season record the last five years which is among the best in the country.

They have gone to two Elite Eights, won the NIT and played for another NIT Championship. The have gone to the post season 6 times (4 NCAA, 2 NIT). Prior to his arrival they had made 4 NCAA and 3 NIT's all time. Easy to see why Bear fans love him.

This statement is laughable. Drew has championship talent and underachieved with said talent. Who do you think convinced this championship talent to sign with Baylor?

Results determine if you are a good coach. If the definition of a bad coach is Drew's results what results are required to be a good coach?

Last time I checked every year good teams and good coaches get bounced the first weekend. the committee doesn't drawl straws for invites.

LMAO

Drew can get players, when he coaches to their potential, they are really good.

I cracked up at Franscilla making Drew sound like John Wooden on his packing in the zone versus UT while extended it against OU.

It was a good coaching move sure, but it's one that 99 percent of people on this board would do. And we aren't college coaches, lol.

This is a good coach = two elite 8s, won the NIT and his 3rd Big XII championship game. 15 post season wins. Whatever the recipe is it works. Drew will on primetime TV tonight in the Big 12 Championship game 8 other big coaches won't.
