Scrimmage Saturday?

When I was at practice last week Strong was wearing some sort of shoulder brace and spent most of practice on the stationary bike.

I'm not crazy about that 17-point deficit (yikes), but I'm very pleased with the comeback win. It seems likely that Oregon let down once they got up by such a wide margin, but good for our guys for keeping after them and not just making a game of it and pulling off the victory.

Yeah me too. There are several ways to interpret this. Maybe it took us a little while to mesh. These guys haven't played in game like conditions together. Or Oregon jumped to the big lead and they started tinkering with their lineup combos and that allowed us to get back into it.

I choose to believe it was the first scenario. :lon

I tend to believe more that it was two coaches that didn't care who won or lost. Most likely they still don't know

They said on the Sports Animal that OU beat Oregon in the scrimmage and that Christian James had 32 points. I have no idea if this is accurate, but that is what Al was reporting

instead of interpreting it and picking it apart ... let's just be surprised and excited!

James had 32 or so. We won after being down 17 in the second half. No spectators at all in the gym. 3 Pac 10 refs called the game.

Oregon didn't play Dillon Brooks because he has a broken foot. Buford and Strong weren't able to play for us.

Starting 5 was Lattin, Woodard, Odomes, James and Doolittle. Doolittle is better than recruiting rankings. Bench was Jamuni, CJ, Freeman, McGusty and Shepard.

I bow down to you, sir. Info is much appreciated!

I'm just grateful for any feedback from the scrimmage. I found it very encouraging. A week from today we all get to see for ourselves with the exhibition game and I can't wait.

Thanks for the details
I hope Strong and Buford can play in the exhibition

Strong hurt his shoulder last year at Juco. I thought he was supposed to have surgery after the season ended and even posted as much here. I don't know if it actually happened or not. I'm sure this is related somehow. Maybe he just needs a few days of rest.

The 32 or so James put on the scoreboard could also be a sign that he may lead the team in that category this season. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he does.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't.

I knew he had an injury in juco last year, but couldn't recall the details.

I hope you're right about a few days of rest. But, to be honest this appears to be a recurring shoulder problem that never really healed properly. Sure hope I'm wrong!

i think hes healed just fine. I dont know the injury that kept him out but Strong has practiced all year, done summer lifting etc...

I still think Jordan will lead the team but this is exciting to hear about James! Going to be a fun season!

If he had a shoulder injury in juco as usedtobe1 has said, and he's in a shoulder sling now, I see that as a sign he may have a recurring shoulder problem.

That's pure speculation, of course, but it seems to be based on some known facts.
