Scrimmage Saturday?

Strong- shoulder is slipping in and out of place. Not related to surgery

Buford- groin strain

Both out the last 7-8 days

Coach is right about Strong. His shoulder keeps popping out on him. It isn't severe but obviously that isn't comfortable. He will play this year unless it really gets hurt. I wasn't sure about Buford.

No idea what Pritchard did but I don't think he started from what I heard.

Doolittle had 7-10? Don't really remember but seems like that area. Odomes had 5.

I think Doolittle is even doing better than the coaches thought this early. He is much more aggressive going to the hoop than he was in high school. Yes somebody on here said that was all of his points in high school. Now he catches it on the wing and drives to the hole. I know the Oregon coaches were also very impressed with him.

Odomes also is driving the ball well. His shot is better but not great yet.

We were down because they couldn't miss from the 3 in the first half.

Oregon is loaded this year, hard to imagine Pritchard coming in as a true freshman and running the show. He will have to work his way into the rotation.

He probably could have at OU; it would have allowed Woodard to remain at the 2.

So James or Odomes would be sitting while Pritchard starts?

Possibly.

I think Odomes is going to struggle some on offense. He may look good early against the teams he can bully to the paint, but once we hit Big 12 play, he better be able to shoot enough from outside to command respect, or the lane likely won't be as open.

I think we may be surprised by how far Odomes has come since last season. He was a scorer deluxe in high school, averaging just over 25 ppg his senior year in Texas' Class 6A ball. I seem to recall reading somewhere that he averaged just under 50% from three point range.

He was also The Texas team's MVP in the Faith Seven All-Star game, where he put up 37 points (2 of 4 from three) and better than 12 rebounds. So, I think it's safe to assume he's accustomed to going up against pretty fair competition.

I'm not saying you're wrong in that Rashard may struggle on the offensive end at some point. I was surprised when for whatever reason he couldn't seem to get untracked last year. I expected a lot more from him, even as a freshman. But, unless everything the coaches and everyone I have heard from are dead wrong, we're going to see an entirely different player this season.

Got a text today about James.

"He was the best player on the floor either team, hands Down"

Derek Peterson, writer for OU Daily, raves about Odomes' athletic ability and says he can take the ball to the rim almost at will. Rashard is also is a great defensisive player. Peterson goes to 1-2 practices every week so he has a pretty good handle on the team.

From my limited exposure to Odomes in HS, a lot of the scoring was predicated on his athletic ability; not uncommon at that level as most HS players are frankly not that good. If he rounds out his ball skills to match the athleticism, Odomes will be a force.

The biggest jump in development usually takes place between halfway through the freshman year and preseason of a sophomore season, we'll see what Odomes has to show for it.

Possibly toward the end of the year, but not from the jump. Two reasons, relative inexperience at a leadership position and the perception of one Trey Young would definitely have an impact.

JW started as a freshmen PG, I think PP is just the player JW is as a freshmen if not better. Pritchard wouldve started IMO but you are right about Young.

I remember the Pritchard threads and it seemed like the staff was going to give him every opportunity to win the PG job and leave Woodard at the 2.

The OU staff gives every player on the roster every opportunity to earn a starting spot.

Unlike the past several years, we can expect various changes to the starting lineup as this season moves along. It will be interesting to watch, and will give us new topics on which to opine during the season.

Very exciting to read. It's important to remember that this Oregon team is going to be very good. Many consider them a favorite to win the Pac-12. Dillon Brooks didn't play, but if James is the 2nd best player between the 2 teams, he's going to be very good very quickly.

I am excited with the attitude and work ethic. If the football team was similar, we would be undefeated.
