Very interesting on a number of elements. Well worth a listen

1. Morgan Rich = done
2. Very critical of lack of leadership and training ability of past team.
3. Basically Simpson is going to have to transform her body to get playing time.
She was hurt as well so should be healthier.
4. Pellington's is going to have develop a jumper or she won't be able to stay in starting lineup with talent coming.
5. Lampkin sounds like will be given every chance to the the mobile 5 to pair with the 4 athletic wings.

So, Rich gone, means we have another ship available for a real big?

Simpson is the dud we’ve been discussing and has to drop a lot of pounds to make the line-up or even play.

Pellington better develop a deadly 10-12 foot jumper (and probably Free Throws) or bench bound she is, especially with Mercer, Tatum, Ventenheimer coming in.

So for sure we have Anna as the only guaranteed returning starter.

Next season is going to be very interesting...

I liked what I heard of the change in emphasis. Somehow, Aspen seemed to be overlooked in the discussion which centered on Tatum and Nydia and the guards.

syb,
sorry to be clear on morgan rich
Morgan rich is moving on from bball after her two knee injuries.
IF OU can land the NEO Center, I hope they can convince Aspen to maybe redshirt.
You wish EJ had another development year.

We all know talk is cheap. However, I am encouraged by not only by what she said, but her tone and blunt honesty. Hopefully this will transition over to the product on the court.

Was looking forward to seeing what Rich could do. Do not blame her for checking it in, with the 2 knee injuries. Hope Coale can add at least one more player this spring.

I sensed in her tone that she knows she and her team has to pick it up next year and the results don’t have to be a national championship, but they have to be a lot better than they have been the last couple of years.

What disturbs me a bit is that she basically admits she couldn’t motivate or bench the team last season into focusing and trying harder, especially at the first of most games.

That is an indication of a coach that has lost a team. Why would they give up? Certainly most of the blame goes on the players, but what was wrong that they felt that way to begin with.

Also thought it was interesting that she says only Gabbi is going to try to play professionally.

She was really down on Vivi and while her description of Vivi’s weaknesses are accurate, you wonder why she wasn’t successful in four years of recruiting over her. I know, Mulkey the quitter, but she didn’t really even try that hard to find another player. And in my opinion, Vivi was the best player on the team until Anna hit the floor.

A family in Norman who is close to the basketball program had told me a few weeks ago that they thought Morgan was going to move on. She actually graduates this semester and Atlanta is correct, with her knee surgeries and rehab, she just wants to move on. I really wanted to see her play, From what I saw last year during warm ups, she could really shoot the ball well

I hope Dee is the answer at the post. She looks athletic and plays hard. I don't mind us being young, as long as we are fundamentally sound and play hard every possession. Aspen is going to be a project. She has a really nice shot, but needs foot work and needs a year to get stronger.

If Pellington can work on that mid range jumper and be equally tough from there as well on the drive, what a weapon to have.

Mandy really needs to work on her conditioning, and get stronger in her hands. She also needs to be stronger at the rim, too many bad decisions and her shots were blocked too easily down low. Just needs to get tougher in the paint.

What I really like about our team coming together is apparently Taylor can fill it up, I have seen Jessi, she can flat shoot the ball and has a good basketball IQ. Tatum seems solid and Williams is the real deal. May take a year for all the newbies to come together, but great potential is there, if only we can find a really good post player.

Sherri moved ViVi to the bench in favor of Mulkey, I think that was a mistake... sounds like she’s going to do the same thing with Shay in favor of Tatum... while I think Tatum could be the better floor leader, I’m not sure she’ll be a better player then Shay next season, I also think Shay is better at this point then Ana and maybe Ana should be the 6th man. I have high hopes for Tatum I think she could make a big big impact from day one, but I can’t see the BIg12 ROY moving to the bench.

Mac, I think you're right about Tatum. I have a friend who coached his granddaughters in the summer against Tatum as they were growing up. He says that Tatum sees and knows everything going on all over the court. He says she's the smartest player he's ever seen.
By the way, his granddaughters were really good athletes. One of them is a softball pitcher for Louisiana Lafayette.

If I remember correctly, Mulkey would start games and only stay in until she made some kind of mistake, which usually wasn't very long. I never took that as saying Mulkey was a better player than ViVi. I just took it as a sure way to get the opening tip. :-)

She's challenged Shay to improve her game - to be more than a drive to the basket player - which she has to do. Remember how much more deadly DRob was when she developed her midrange shots? In order for Shay to be better than Ana, she has to be able to more than drive to the basket. We all know that defenses will start to sag off of her if she can't do more than drive.

Instead of? I tend to see the lineup as:
Nydia
Madison
Ana
Shaina
Tatum

I suspect that the top reserves might be Taylor and Jessica.

Couple clarifications:

From what I heard Sherri say, her comments around getting in better shape centered around Gily, not Mandy. She said Mandy needed to get healthier & commit herself to doing the little things again, but I think her comments about needing to be in better shape were targeted toward Gily.

I'm wondering if Taylor Robertson will be athletic enough to compete at the D-1 level. She can shoot it like you wouldn't believe, but she's going to need to get a little bit quicker. Has anyone watched her play? Is that too critical?

Sherri mentioned she wanted to run a lot more and play a lot faster - said the makeup of this year's team didn't allow for that but the future is completely different. I liked the sound of that and think it fits the way Sherri likes to play.

That seems to be our most talented lineup -- and we'll probably be in good shape if that's our starting lineup by season's end. But it's a wildly young lineup. Very few freshmen have started their first game under Coach Coale. I think our starting lineup to start the season will be:

Shaina
Penzo
Ana
EJ/Mandy

And then one freshman guard who earns their starting spot in practice.

If SC has to start the season with that starting lineup, that is beyond scary.

As I recall Mulkey started to give us the best chance to win the tip for the slight advantage on possession arrows. Mulkey would then be replaced by ViVi after a couple of minutes.

I don't know anything about Nydia or Madison, but I like the idea is Ana, Shaina and Tatum playing together.

I like this unit, but still will pick EJ as the starting 5, atlest early on... I haven’t seen Madi play, but after reading her Jordan Brand bio, while I think she can Play in an undersized post role, her game could really shine if she can play the her more natural position at the 3. Hearing she’s a great defensive player, but will she be able to guard a bigger player like Cox or Holmes?
