Sherri Coale interview with Hale KREF

If SC has to start the season with that starting lineup, that is beyond scary.

I 100% agree with you. But, if you remember at the beginning of this season SC for some reason refused to start Shaina and Ana together and instead started Penso and Simpson. In my opinion, even at that point, it was obvious this was the wrong lineup. Simpson was ineffective and worthless, and I thought Shaina would be more effective offensively than Penso. Then, it seemed she finally figured it out halfway through the season. I'll never know why SC makes some to the decisions she does, other than the fact that she has favorites. I have a feeling Tatum is a mini-SC and will start from day one, as well as Madi, Ana and Shaina. From the podcast, it sounds like unless EJ gets it together, she's going with Lampkin at the 5, wisely so. Fingers crossed though we get a couple more athletic commits in.

My big question is, since Rich is retiring, does that free up one more scholarship? I'd hope so. It's totally not fair she decides to retire and takes up a scholarship spot. Unless she's actually graduating and then the point is mute.

The starters for the first six games were:
Manning
Ortiz
Williams
Simpson
Pierre-Louis

with Penzo replacing Maddie in the seventh game (Florida), which is about when Maddie had mono.

Starting five I think is pretty clear barring some additions.
Beginning of the year.
Shaina
Tatum
Ana
Madi
EJ - with four skilled scorers around her. And a focus on just rebounding?? And easy chance points. Running with the guards as well. I just wish she had redshirted at some point so she wasn't a senior. She does not need to be Hakeem Olajuwon. She can be a role player.

A family in Norman who is close to the basketball program had told me a few weeks ago that they thought Morgan was going to move on. She actually graduates this semester and Atlanta is correct, with her knee surgeries and rehab, she just wants to move on. I really wanted to see her play, From what I saw last year during warm ups, she could really shoot the ball well.

A couple of notes on Rich. She informed the staff back in January that she wouldn’t be returning so they knew they had the extra scholarship. It was a tough decision but basketball is all she has known for many years and she is ready to move to the next chapter of life. Morgan actually graduates next fall and feels called to ministry. If you search her YouTube videos, etc, you will see why she was so highly recruited. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see more of her. .

Thanks for that clarification Mike, I got to talk to her a bit at the pre-season scrimmage. Really sweet young lady, I wish her nothing but the best in her future.

Murcer can really shoot but very slow footed and will have trouble creating her own shot. She understands the game and a good passer. I don't know if she will be able to guard anyone in the Big 12

Is this not the same concern with Robertson? A phenomenally talented offensive player who might struggle to create her own shot and defend in the Big 12?

I didn't listen, just read through thread, and again same song and dance from Sherri and from you

We're always looking for more hard information about the program, and here was a lot of it. Maybe if noref had actually listened to it, his opinion might have been different. Instead, he was just same old, same old.

I will say this about footspeed in big 12.
Amber rameriz mcdaa out of hs top ten out of hs good shooter out of hs but she barely can earn minutes for TCU unless she gets hot. Watching her play New Mexico tonight in NIT she struggles to guard. Being able to guard is huge! Imo that should be first things coach look at. Who can a player guard. But teams get 15 ships and more times than none about 8-10 of those kids ever play.

Sherri is an extremely great speaker BUT I’m not looking for talk I’m looking for Results. She has not given us that the last 4-5 years and again lazy on the recruiting end. Sounds like some good guards coming in but you Can Not win in big time women’s college basketball without good inside play - just doesn’t happen and Sherri cant recruit or keep good inside players now if it meant her life . You have to work harder in recruiting for those players and she hasn’t shown the willingness to do that in years.

+1

I'm not sure that however many All Americans you recruit, if you dont coach, insist upon, and demand good defense how far that gets you. Without good defense I doubt you win championships. We dont and we wont.

It is so nice to have all of the positive posters who look for the possibilities in the OU program.
