Should KU, KSU, ISU, and MU join the Mountain West?

Mizzou and K-State fans, what would be your problem with joining the Mountain West conference?

i'd rather stay in the big 12, because kstate would continue to play more long-term rivals. if that becomes impossible, i'd rather join the big east than the mwc because the big east footprint is much, much better bball recruiting territory, and secondarily because most of the nation lives in the eastern time zone, and big east telecasts accordingly get more exposure than mwc telecasts would (team quality aside). the big east also currently plays significantly better bball than the mwc.

It would be like attending the OU school of journalism when you were already accepted to Mizzou.

Missouri fans, when you are in the Mountain West and OU is in the Pac 10, will you still be on OUHoops?

Shouldn't the Mountain West join the remaining Big XII? That would put them in a much better position to argue that they keep a BCS AQ for the champion.

If it became a "BCS Conference", I would much rather join the MWC than the Big East if I am a Mizzou, KU, ISU, or KSU fan. Gives you a better chance to go to a BCS game in football, and it wouldnt change anything for you in basketball.

As for TV exposure... if you are good you will be on TV.

What were Spencer Tillman and Stacy Dales thinking? They will never get a job.

Other than Columbia or Syracuse where you get a journalism degree does not matter. If you have game you have game.

If you have game, you're applying to Mizzou and hoping you get in.

Putting OU's journalism program in the same stratosphere as Mizzou's School of Journalism is ridiculous.

Good lord, what is with MU fans and their obsession over their J-school? (Please, save me the links to your random validation through rankings)

adb, this doesn't really have to do with the mountain west. this has more to do with oklahoma turning their backs on their values and what they stand for. At least to me.

You are missing the point in OU leaving the Big 12, if they do.

I'm sure OU would LOVE to keep the Big 12 intact. But if that isn't going to happen.....if we're going to go down this same road in a few years.....doesn't it make more sense for OU to be proactive, move WHEN they want to move, and move WHERE they want to move?

I looked up all the broadcast journalist I could think of from CNN, FOX, MSBNC, and ESPN and none of them went to Missouri.

Is it good for print journalism? If so, isn't print journalism dead?

Tell us why we should be in awe of MU's journalism program, Sawyer.

LOL @ journalism school. This is 2011 not 1908. Like there is some groundbreaking secret they teach at Mizzou. It's like accounting ... debit is on the left.

Show me somebody with a degree in journalism from mizzou and I'll show you a blonde with nice knockers who will take their job. lol

Just for the record, my values are to screw the state of Kansas whenever humanly possible.

This is what I was thinking as well. The Big 12 already has the contracts, tie-ins, etc. Wouldn't it be easier for the MWC teams to join the remaining Big 12 teams to participate in AQ football?

For basketball, I would think joining the Big East is a better option for the Kansas teams, Iowa St, and Mizzou. They'll be in a tough situation for sure, but I'm sure that Kansas and Missouri will end up on their feet somewhere.

It would be amusing to watch KU fans squirm. That doesn't include my man grace, just the majority of their fanbase.

You apparently didn't search too hard. There are Mizzou influences all over each of those networks. Off the top of my head, Chuck Roberts was at CNN for nearly 30 years (retired last year, though), Major Garrett was one of the top political reporters at Fox News for the past decade, Russ Mitchell is one of the anchors for CBS news, John Anderson, Michael Kim, Pat Forde, David Ubben and about two dozen others work at ESPN.

Print journalism isn't dead. It's taken some hits, but nowhere near what cable news networks have seen (which have seen a decline in viewership over the past couple years significantly greater than the percent decline in newspaper readership). The shift has been to online media (no surprise), which is still journalism.

You go to any major newsroom in the country and you will find Mizzou alumni working there.
