Is the season judged by how far you go in March? Does a Sweet 16 banner mean more than a Big 12 Regular Season or Tournament Championship?

Does it mean more to recruits? To the prestige of the program? To the fans?

I say..... in a few years nobody will give a crap how good your regular season record was, but going further in the NCAA Tournament will up your prestige.

What say you?

Prestige wise yes, overall about even so far, but could be better with another win or two.

Not yet, IMO. If OU wins on Friday, maybe. I'd say pretty comparable. Obviously if OU makes the FF, that would tip things to OU's favor at that point.

There is no perfect answer to this question. What's important will vary person to person. It's some combination of the regular season and postseason, but how much of each is up to each person.

I think if you polled KU fans right now they would gladly trade their regular season title to still be playing.

This. Postseason matters more for us this season where the past 2 years were about the regular season and getting to the tournament. I consider the upset to ND State a speed bump, an aberration. We're on target and not far off Kansas' pace. Another win and it is a better result.

Next up is an outright Big 12 title, a #1 seed, and a shot at winning the whole damn thing.

That's true but they have won lots of season titles. It would mean more to OU to have won a big 12 title.

If you're an older fan like me, you would rather have the year OU had and still be playing. This was OU's 7th (yes, seventh) time as a #3 or #4 seed, but the first time we've been to the Sweet 16. I would not trade that for either a regular season or conference tournament championship. Now, if we had more tournament success through the years, my answer may be different. But with all the past NCAA shortcomings (based on seed), I'm not trading this for any accomplishment prior to mid-March.

Good answer.

We were very close to sweeping KU. If we don't lose twice to KSU on last second shots we definitely had a better year than KU. In 09, we were set to break KUs regular season crown string but BG gets the concussion and we finished 2nd, one game back. This year we had another chance to break it but didn't win the games we should have.

Regardless, I prefer to still be playing and am happy but want one more win.

I was on the fence until I read your post, WaymanFan. Your answer tipped the scales for me. I didn't realize that OU has been a #3 or #4 seed seven times and never made it this far before. Despite the fact that we could have, and perhaps should have, won more games in the regular season, what this team accomplished with tonight's win truly made this a special season. No wonder I have had a smile on my face the past hour or so!

My cousin, an Iowa State fan, told me he'd trade places with me. I haven't asked my cousin who's a Kansas fan yet, but I'm guessing his answer is the same.

Who cares. We're still playing, they're not. Let's just enjoy this and do the d*ck measuring in the off-season when there's nothing else to talk about.

Man, rough history with the 3 and 4 seeds.

We've played to our seed. KU, supposedly a national contender every single year, flamed out 2 games earlier than their seed. Yes that regular season title would still be good, but I'll take this.
