This morning's Oklahoman said that a delegation of some 52 people, including Sunrise Christian coach, Kyle Linstead, made the drive down from Wichita to watch Buddy Hield play yesterday. I tried to find Ryan Aber's article so I could post the link, but couldn't locate it for some reason.

Anyone know if there were any players from Sunrise OU might be recruiting in attendance at yesterday's game?

Next to where I was sitting, I saw the group walk down the lower level stairs to the court after the end of the game, and then back up. I have no idea if OU is recruiting any of these guys, but they have some very tall, fine looking young men/athletes. They were having a great time and conducted themselves as polite and respectful young men.

This was not the first time that I have seen the Sunrise Christian team at an OU basketball game. They still love Buddy.

Thanks, Trav! I hope they love Buddy enough to follow him to OU.

We were all disappointed when Tum Tum opted for MSU. But he won't be the last great player to play there. Sure would be nice to develop a pipeline to Sunrise Christian! The players in attendance yesterday had to be impressed with what they saw.

IMHO, our Achilles heel in recruiting is lack of fan attendance. According to the official stats from yesterdays game ...

12,925 ... Paid attendance
9,248 ... Estimated attendance.

That was a huge (very important) game in OU's season, yet 28% (3,677) of the people that bought tickets did not go to the game.

I guess the good news is that 9,000-plus is a good crowd, but potential recruits could be more impressed if there were not so many empty seats scattered throughout the upper and lower levels of the arena.

I am always hopeful that the fans will show. Next Saturday is another huge game, and this time it will be TEXAS.

No doubt about it, this team didn't deserve to be playing to 3,000 plus empty seats in an important conference game.

Seems to me the crowd has been better lately, though. Winning on a fairly consistent basis helps. But I have a feeling fans who have watched OU play this year have been spreading the word that this is a fun team to watch. I'll be surprised if next Saturday's game against UT doesn't draw 11,000 or more.

OU fan attendance is horrible. A major reason that OU has never or will never be a consistent national power is not enough people give a **** about bball at OU. Every once in a while we get it right, but it's an uphill battle most of the time. Fan support for OU bball has always sucked and it's a reflection on the lack of commitment and interest in this program. Not enough people care about OU basketball.

If Texas doesn't sell out, that would be ridiculous. I live in Houston but if I were up there, I'd be there all the time. Nothing like being there in person. Like I said in another thread though, I've been able to see EVERY GAME on TV, and I'm in Houston. THis is the first year I've been able to say that. And it's great... But I can't help but wonder if that's making the Okie element more lazy about the games.. It's a shame. I attended the first game(Bama) in Dallas as my wife and I made a short weekend out of seeing the team. I also saw them down here in the Boots deal against TAMU. Again, I love being there and I don't get not going just because they are on TV. I guess Texan OU fans don't take OU events for granted as much...

Just as an FYI, Lloyd Noble only seats 11,600 so OU oversold for standing room only. Only about 2,000 empty seats. It was a really good crowd as Lon is building it. I think next year will be even better. This Saturdays Texas game is sold out and I am sure there will be a butt in every seat.

I was there. Crowd was decent....I would say there were more than 2000 empty seats though.

The sunrise pipeline would be one to keep flowing.

Marvin is still deciding... ISU, IU, KSU or SHOCKERS...

Thanks. Didn't he visit us? Do you know if Lon dropped him or vice versa? I know it sounds as if OU would still like Cunningham, who appears to be a similar style player.

I spoke to him he awhile back and I think he just moved on from OU, not sure if OU was slow playing him or what... He was big on ksu!

Decided to wait and he's stock has risen like Cunningham
