Talent in Oklahoma for 15, 16, and 17?

A tidbit from Oklahoma Wizards 16u practice...

"Kellen tried to come in the land 2 times in a row in practice yesterday and Vaughn blew his **** up. So that pissed him off and he then drained 4 threes in a row."

He'll be a star at OBU.

Young is the player that gets a lot of love, but I've just never been all that impressed. He's extremely slight in stature, doesn't handle all that well and doesn't really defend all that well. Can definitely shoot it, but not sure he can get his shot on his own. I'm no coach or recruiter, but just an avid fan.

I won't completely disagree with you on Trae Young, he's skinny and doesn't work real hard on defense (few do at his age). He won't be a five star recruit because of his size (if for no other reason), but if he keeps improving - by the time he's a senior he'll have a ton of interest - not just because he can score, but because he is extremely crafty at getting his shot up against bigger/longer defenders and when I see him shoot I always think of Anthony Morrow - seems like the time it takes him to get a shot up from the time it hits his hands to the time he releases it is a fraction of a second and boy is it smooth. He's loose with the basketball at times, but there's plenty of time to sharpen those tools before he's on a D-1 campus. It's almost always pretty difficult to project where a kid will be in three years, but he has some unteachable skills that make me think he has big time potential.

I agree. I just know he gets a little overwhelmed by physical players at times. No doubt he has a quick, pretty stroke...I'm just wondering if he can get it off against D1 players. Like you said, he's got plenty of time to improve his weaknesses.

Dickinson, the other guard at Norman North is good enough to play at OU.

What is this kids name at Ada that is 6'8"??

The 2018 class in Oklahoma may be the deepest class that has come out of this state in a long time. Mainly all bigger guards in the 6'2" - 6'4" range, a couple of PG but no one in the 6'7" and bigger range that you look at and build a team around. I have seen a couple of 6'6" kids, but they are VERY RAW, maybe by their senior year one will grow in to that PF/C position, but don't see that player right now. Had Reggie Chaney not been recruited to Texas to play, he would have been the headliner PF in state.

Just noticed that Young is #30 in the Rivals Top 150 for '17. Highest rated Oklahoma player and the only Oklahoma prep player in the to 75. UT just offered him as well.

I mentioned him here. He's really taken off. Highly successful aau team. Great talent here in Oklahoma. Lon loves homegrown kids.

Ou is on the verge of offering Landrum from Tulsa Central. He was on campus this past week. Has really put in the work.

2nd Best Guard in the state. Getting close to Trae Young.

Very underrated, doesnt play for high level team in the summer hurts him nationally.

What would that mean with regard to Trae Young?

I think he is catching Trae. Trae is better, smoother, more polished. Trae has dominated AAU. Has yet to dominate 6a. This season for Trae should be fun to watch, Im anxious to see if its different.

Landrum has dominated 4a. Won state this past year.

espn has him as a 4 star

I still think he's not talked about enough. He was rough around the edges in the past. Almost always had to have the ball in his hands, thats changed some. He is really putting in work.

Love his game, but he's 5ft9.

Landrum will visit again this week per Twitter.

don't know anything about landrum. How tall, and how would you describe his skill set. Who would you compare him to? Thanks.

Elijah Will be playing with A1 this next summer

He's played with them before a few times. Really turned some heads. East side kids are looked down upon at times to A1. A few prospects are changing that a little.

5'9-5'10. Scoring Pg, but passes well, very good athlete, jumps well, comparing him is tough.. ill think about that.
