Texas

At this point, Texas may be the best team not housed in Storrs, beating Baylor at their house, solidly. But, we can contend with their guards. We did it without Maddie. Do we now have a shot at hosting a regional?

We won the first half. It would be nice if they would call a foul on Texas when they are over the back on those rebounds. They have missed at least four on Holmes and one on Lang.

Poetic justice. With 4.3 seconds left, McCarty clearly had the ball AND both wrists. Gabbi should have been shooting free throws. Instead, Peyton hits a three, and Nancy shows them what 6-9 can do.

I was hoping Sherri would put Mulkey on the inbounds player and it worked to perfection. Great job by both of them. Man, I love beating Texas in Anything!

This hasn't been my day. I stopped by Chick-fil-a for breakfast. I ordered a large unsweet iced tea with one splenda and a sausage and egg biscuit.

When I got to the window they handed me a small iced tea with a sweet 'n low. I made them switch the drink.

When I opened up the sandwich it had cheese on it. I took it back and said I ordered a sausage and egg biscuit with no cheese. They gave me another one. It had cheese on it, too! It took 3 tries but they finally got the order right.

:ez-laugh:

I hate those days!

GREAT WIN today! We were shorthanded, but long on hustle and heart.
Loved our fight and mental toughness ... and beat perhaps the nations's hottest team.
Well-earned and very happy for our players and coaches!
And Gabbi's seriously turning into a foxhole player.

Texas ended the first half with a wild three, and the game with an uncontested three.

McCarty shuffled her feet before making her move.

Gabbi is the guard we hoped for. Is there a better post than Vivi in the conference? This is a conference with Jensen, Lewis, Lang, and Brown. Vivi may be the best.

Complete game?????? As probably as close to it as we are going to get. What a perfect time for it too.

Really gutty and strong performance by al.

Peyton shows up big. Mulkey contributes strongly. Ortiz---man she is really coming on. Despite their board advantage we hustle.

Just a tremendous, satisfy performance for the fans and I am sure the staff and players are elated.

I love the smile on Peyton's face after she made the winning 3. It would not go away.

It was a good win for the ladies, I wouldn't call texas blue bloods but still a good home win.

Best 4 quarters they have played on both ends of the court in a very long time. I was afraid we were going to self destruct after losing the boards by 7 and getting outscored by 11 in the 3rd. We were up 1 board at half but we came back in the 4th quarter and only lost the boards by 1. I'll take 3 quarter of being even on the boards against a team with the whorns length.

Defensively we only allowed the whorns 2 fast break points and offensively that is their strength, strong defensive rebounding and transition baskets. They killed Baylor that way. Also out scored them by 17 in the paint. Played under control all night. Thanks Vivi. Didn't try to force things too much.

West Virginia 53
Iowa State 68
both are now 6-9

#24 Kansas State 27
TCU 38
3:33 left in the first half. IF TCU wins, we are guaranteed at least a third place finish.

Kansas 49
Texas Tech 62
5:25 left in fourth

Big win. K-State trailing TCU in 1st half.

Gabbi and Carter coming on strong. Little still turns down too many shots from mid range. ViVi seriously outplayed Lang who was crazy hot from 15 feet. ViVi really earning her playing time. Rough spots for Mulkey but she did contribute. She and Dungee still growing.

Officiating not good. Bumps allowed at times and then ticky tack. I thought they got several calls wrong. No way player set on Dungee charge and last foul on ViVi a pure guess.

I can always tell when we win without opening the thread. If we lose there are a ton of posts. If we win only a couple of sets.

I did notice that there weren't a lot of posts right after the game.

But, to be fair, there never are as many posts immediately after home games.

In general, it's true that there seem to be more people who like to complain about losses than celebrate victories.

I must admit that I am surprised. I didn't see how the team would win more than a couple of games without Maddie. It seemed that Gioya and Peyton were in such a downturn that there was no way to score, much less rebound. I am shocked that we have swept the three games since her injury, one on the road, and this tough one at home. Sherri was right. This team is good. I thought it was as good as Maddie could make it. They are good, period.

Great point! Does this mean Sherri knows how to coach again? What this staff is doing with Manning hurt and a couple of freshman playing key roles is really fun to watch.

Big test coming up but we passed this one! Underclassmen played well. Loved Mulkey's steal on the inbounds play.

I think Maddie is a great player but just for me too much of a thinker. When she just plays she's great but when she allows the game to play her it's bad. The kids on the floor today were not perfect but just played. Hustled on every possession. They did not allow Texas to play them they played the game of basketball and didn't pay attention to who they were playing they played for the love of the game is what I saw and played like they belonged with anyone. that is how it should be and win or lose most are always satisfied- a win is a def bonus though

WOW !!!! WHAT A GAME !!!!! So prOUd of these girls.....Grit, determination, hustle.....Everybody contributed to this win....Gabbi, Playing her best, Glad Peyton found her shot again.....Nancy made some huge blocks when needed the most.....ViVi.....what can I say??? She is playing so good !!!! Great game......Wished I could have been there in person, but the crowd looked good and sounded lOUd !!!!!!!!!!!
