Dave Rose: Not interested.
Josh Pastner: Not interested.
Billy Gillespie: Not interested.
Buzz Williams: Not interested.
Lon Kruger: Not interested.

Am I missing anyone? My goodness, who the hell is interested in OU right now?

Haven't seen reports on all of them, but wasn't it confirmed that OU did not seek Pastner nor Rose?

I know Pastner wasn't.

Just Pastner. Not sure why everyone keeps listing him. The only evidence OU had any interest in him sources back to one random message board poster with no apparent documented history of being close to Pastner.

If that is a "Not Interested" in OU list, BCG shoudn't be on it. The reverse was true in his case.

Terry Evans

I think he's worth taking a chance on.

Some people on here prefer if he took a smaller D1 school job and work there a few years and prove that he can have success there as well. Well if thats the case, that means our next hire here is either not successful or bolts for another job. So if Evans is someone that we are interested in, why not take the chance.

Wait. Dean saying that he doesn't think Lon Kruger would want to move = Lon Kruger: not interested?

Or did I miss another report?

This list is a bash disguised as an honest question. First BCG was never a person of interest on OU's part. Buzz has yet to sign his deal. But if he does everything points to OU choosing to not outbid MU. Rose and Kruger were at best someone reaching out and most likely did happen but we will never know for sure. But a bonafide offer was not made. Maybe the same happened with Pastner. But all I heard was his announcing his intent to renew with Memphis. Was that a rejection? Or was it a request for a bid from OU? Why announce you are signing? Just sign the damn thing.

I thought the report from Dean was that Lon Kruger isnt interested?

I agree, Terry is worth the risk!!! I look at this way, the program to me can't get worse! Next year is going to be rough no matter who the coach is, so let Terry have it and run with it. If he can recruit good DII talent to UCO, then have no doubt he will recruit good DI talent to OU!!! Plus, we will never have to worry about him going somewhere else when he starts winning and becomes a hot commodity coach!!!!

But a bonafide offer was not made.

If you reach out to different people to gauge interest but they all immediately say no, then an offer will never be made. Just because a bonafide offer was not extended doesn't mean OU didn't make overtures.

A subsequent poster clarified that Dean basically said something along the lines of "I don't think he's looking to move". He didn't appear to have any sources to back that up, he was just talking out of his you know what.

I take your point. There is an upside and a downside to the way Joe C is keeping the search on the quiet. The downside is some guy's name is mentioned on a message board and he or his agent stirs the pot for a while and maybe he gets a raise but at least
he appears to be a hot property. Then he announces he is not interested. Joe C will never call him out. Not saying it has happened but it easily could.

The belief that a bunch of message board posters really know what is going on in this search is laughable.

Exactly. Why do any of you think you actually have a clue as to what's happening in the coaching search? Do you really believe every media member who reports that "sources" have said this or that? I could be one of the sources for all you know. Inaccurate and made up reports are released all the time, and none of us knows fact from fiction. Just relax and wait for a coach to be hired.

At this point I would say go with Terry Evans...we've let to many people go of the board, and then we can only hope that we can get some assistant coaches that know how to recruit...Im sure Terry Evans wont be a horrible recruiter, he is a likeable guy, but just because he has success recruiting on a D2 level, in no way means he can recruit on a D1 level...thats not even comparable

I still have a good feeling about Johnny Jones and Kruger though, but if we cant get them...id say Evans
