Was in Lawrence this weekend....Got a small peek at the Phog...Came back home depressed...That place is pretty damn cool.

Now you know how the rest of the conference feels after visiting Owen Field.

No doubt....I wanted to go up to one of the security guards and ask them if I could shoot a jumpshot but I didnt want to get arrested for trespassing.

While Owen Field is very cool, it's not in the ballpark with the Phog. We've added this and that and luxury suites here and a second deck that doesn't match that other second deck over there to go along with a south endzone that's taller than the original lower bowl, etc., etc.

But none of that is present at the Phog. Except for a new, fancy scoreboard not much has changed in that old barn. It just OOZES history. It's a wonderful place to see a basketball game.

Too bad its tenants suck.

+1.

Saw the OSU-KU game in The Phog back in 2004 (or was it 2005?), one of the cooler sporting events I have attended.

That was really bad grammar. I need to change it.

The American Airlines Center?

Probably one of the worst environments for CBB.
Agreed. I've seen a few CBB games there and it's been a mausoleum each time.

But it might be the most beautiful arena I've ever set foot in.

If you only have the Big XII tournament to judge it by that is not fair because it was never close to full.

No way some old barn like Phog can hold a candle to the ACC when your sitting in the platinum club sipping a cocktail watching over the ledge at a Mavericks playoff game.

Love the Phog. I went to this year's OU game up there, and I don't care how bad we were, Big Monday was electric. Also went in '06, when KS' last team blew a huge lead late and lost. After KU took its first lead in forever with under a minute to go on an alley-oop, they showed that "I've seen a lot of things in my day, but that. Was. AWESOME!" clip from "Tommy Boy"...brought the house down. :(

I must have missed when this thread became about best venues to watch an NBA playoff game.

Been to my fair share of Mavs games, and yes, it is a great arena for the NBA Playoffs. However, that environment will never be replicated for a college basketball game.

I went to the Michigan vs Kansas game this year with my cousin. The amount of history there is a neat feeling and being able to sit by VERY passionate fans shoulder to shoulder all throughout the arena made my ears ring for the 6 hour drive back to norman. However, I was pretty disappointed in the things they can upgrade like their scoreboard and other electronics. LNC is by far dominant in that aspect.

I went to the last 2 OU games at Kansas, Allen field house is a really neat place. I haven't been to duke or indiana, but I have to say the phog is the perfect place for a college basketball game.

I was on a business trip a few years ago to Raleigh, while there I went to Cameron and was able to walk inside, stand on mid-court and sit in the seats, very neat experience. I even jumped up and touched the net.
