The talk about Doolittle playing the 3 needs to be put to bed

Inasmuch as there is a "3" on the court for OU, Doolittle doesn't play it. This rant makes as much sense as me posting a separate thread ranting about Bieniemy playing the 5.

Well, he thinks he's a 3 at times and it seems LK has played him at the 3 as well.

The "rant" was intended, though, for the poster on this board who maintains he's a 3. The same poster who said Osby was a 3. :ez-roll:

If Doo or Brady rarely are needed to play the 5 next year because there are better options, I would expect them together on the floor 7 to 10 mins a game. The issues are more about a productive offense and the play of the rest of the team has plenty to do with that. If he or Brady are still needed at the 5 position for 10 plus minutes a game we can forget about Doo playing the 3.

Some of us have been saying that since day 1.

The problem is, we're not a good team with him at the 4 either. We just aren't good enough at the 5 to get away with having him at the 4. When your bigs are Doolittle and Manek, you are going to get killed inside.

I agree, but we’re not talking about how much better we’d be if we had a five to back up Doo and Manek. There is no one. McNeace is not even in the conversation anymore. I’m all for giving Polla more playing time at the five (what can it hurt at this point?), but I don’t have much hope he is the answer to our problem.

Doolittle is what he is. An undersized four who is not skilled enough to play the three. I have never supported the idea that he’s a three. He needs to be as close to the basket as he can get. Anything over two to three dribbles and he’s more likely to turn the ball over than to score. No big deal if he gets his shot blocked on occasion. His best spot for a short range jumper is directly in front of the rim from fifteen and in.
