I want to see this team make the Final Four so bad, but this feels really good right now.

Party at AdaSooners?

Thanks for keeping this board, OUHoops! Days like this make it worth it!

We've got as good a chance to advance as anyone.

Come on down! I'll make a big pot of my venison chili.

This is the best I have felt since the 2009 season. What a great win for this team. I'm so happy for Lon and the boys!!! :dance005:

You could punch me square in the nuts and I'd still be smiling!

It's amazing that this team of no name recruits, with no bench, led by a non D1 level PG and a coach who can't win in the post season; is in the sweet 16. Amirite?

Boomer Sooner Baby, keep working fellas, I believe!!

Yes, this win feels great!!! I've been following OU basketball for about 40 years now and this is our 10th Sweet 16 during that time frame. All of them have produced a natural high. Of those, only two of them I felt we had no chance to advance (1979, 1999). Of the other seven, we showed up to play in six of them (looked terrible in '89) and won five. I think we're going to show up for this one as well! I'm going to enjoy the feeling of being in the Sweet 16 all week long!

It is wonderful that we have another full week to be excited.
All week long!

Good post again. 1979 vs Bird was a no-go and 99 vs the Flintstones wasn't any easier.

Finally, we get a break in the seeding and take advantage of it. I remember in 2000, we were a 3 or 4 seed and the 1 and 2 both lost opening it up for us to advance but we lost to Purdue. That's the last time I remember thinking wre lost out on a great chance to make the Final 4.

People need to look back where we were after Capel left. Romero Osby was by far our best player returning when Kruger came in. I think our next best talent would have been Cam Clark or Pledger. No young guys to pass the torch to at all.

Now in 4 years already back to being a top 20 type program.

and this should be a good team next year. If Buddy decides to stay it could be an excellent team.

Even without Buddy we will be real good. Lots of solid leadership to fall back on. Cousins is not that big a drop from Buddy as a leading scorer.

Roster included Osby, M'Baye, Fitzgerald, C.J. Washington, Barry Honore, and Tyler Neal in the post (and Casey Arent). Clark, Pledger, Carl Blair, and Calvin Newell (for a semester) at the guard/wing. Kruger signed Sam Grooms late.

Osby, M'Baye, Fitz, Pledger, Clark, and Grooms weren't a bad nucleus for a starting 5. Newell should have been more patient.
