I'm just kidding. What ever anyone has said negative on this board (me included) about Kruger should be taken back. The players playing too much, rotations, going to the low post, etc. Kruger has proved he can and will coach here as long as he wants. Funny how this team now is scoring in the post a lot more. Must be March!

I'm picking OU to lose by 6 against Oregon. it worked against A&M, not going to change it up now.

just because they played amazingly last night does not mean that the negative comments werent warranted at the time.. everybody on this board knows that this team is capable of winning the whole thing.. but until last night's game, they hadnt been playing at a high level in a while..

I hope they can keep it up for just 3 more games

For an entire game, I agree. VCU was a good first half and not so good second half. Didn't really play very well in either half in the first round. And really hadn't played a good, full game, since the beginning of conference play.

The blizzard of negative crap that is in the game threads can hardly be passed off as warented criticism.

It must be a hard life to take anything good for granted and be so personally upset, offended and embarrased by anything not perfect.

These are just young guys. They make mistakes and try to do too much. They play in places where the court and hoops are different and have fans who do everything possible to distract you short of someone standing up nude while you are taking a free shot (which will happen someday).

We averaged 8-12 wins in the years I attended OU. I can really appreciate this team.

Nothing negative should be said about Kruger considering what he inherited at this point in his OU career. Go back and look at the roster of his first team, it was atrocious especially at the guard position. Now, 5 years in with a group of guys that were his first recruits and we are in the elite 8 and before last nights game the sweet 16.

I'm baffled about some of the complaints about Kruger though. I don't agree with all of his decisions but geez some of the complaints are over the top. One would think we are UNC, or Kentucky based on some of the comments.

Just think what the program will be once we get more players like his newer recruits. We are on the cusp of the 80's (OU basketballs greatest decade), IMO.

Knew it wouldn't take long for one of your fellow nancies to call your hand on that one. :ez-laugh:

The rush by the Negative Neds to claim they were somehow justified in their incessant carping is not surprising, but let's not resort to revisionist history, shall we not?

Here, just off the top of my head, are a number "good, full games" we've played since the start of conference play.

ISU in Norman -- we trailed by four at half and won by four.
KU in Lawrence -- led by four, tied after regulation, lost by a hair in triple OT in a game many say is one of the greatest of all time.
KSU in Norman -- we won both halves.
WVU in Norman -- Tied at half, won the game.
Baylor in Norman -- We won both halves.
Tech in Norman -- We won both halves by ten points or more.
TCU in Norman -- Won both halves, the first half by 19.
WVU in Morgantown -- Won both halves, on the road.
oswho in Norman -- we won both halves.
TCU in Ft. Worth -- we won both halves.
ISU in KC -- we won the first half, and the Cyclones hit a meaningless three with one second remaining to break a second-half tie, all this on a far-from neutral court.

And if you don't agree that those games qualify, maybe your expectations are unreasonable.

Let me restate that: If you don't agree that those games qualify as "good, full games" your expectations ARE unreasonable.

I am not gonna say I agree with either side of the extreme.

1. we definitely peaked too early. I think that is a consensus opinion.

2. we played well in some conference games, but seriously underachieved in conference. It's just a fact. We should have been neck and neck with Kansas but while the Jayhawks got better OU languished with inconsistency. I grant it was a tough conference but we are better than we performed.

3. We really didnt play that great of a conference tourney either. So the nice performance starting with Bakersfield then VCU and now ATM has been a nice surprise.

Maybe it's rallying around AK that has helped them. I am not sure but am very happy to finally see them playing more like we thought they could.

It's not that simple. Some point to our conference results and paint it as if we played badly throughout the conference action. That is simply not the case.

Had we beaten KU in either game (and we came close both times) and won one other game (Tech, KSU, pick the loss that irks you the most--me, I'd go with KSU, our only loss to a non-tourney team), we'd have tied for first.

I'm not making excuses; I'm just saying we weren't as far off as some suggest we were from achieving our objectives. The idea that we didn't play a single "good, full game" in conference play is absurd. I'm sorry, but it is.

And I think you're being too hard on the team's conference tourney performance. If WVU gets called on their nonsense in that game the way they did against SFA, we're in the title game. And we were a fingernail's length from getting there anyway.

But we didn't win those games. And we also had some wins that were close. We were a few points from being a better team, but we were also a few points from dropping even further down the conference standings.

Given our health, and all things considered, we should have done better. Period.

So annoying..

See, I find it annoying when, game after game, week after week, month after month, posters make absurdly negative statements about our team during one of the greatest seasons in the program's history.

Different strokes, I guess.

This pretty much it. Although we weren't far away from contending We played about 2 games in conference where we got killed. And one of those we just got beat in the 2nd half really the last 10 minutes or so by Texas. Every other loss we just didn't get something right or missed a free throw or something and lost close games we probably shoulda won. Just turn around the KU games alone and we probably end up tied for top of the conference.

How are we arguing about whether or not this team is a disappointment the day before they play in an Elite Eight game? Honestly, you people.

Definitely.. some like to analyze the team and look at strengths and weaknesses looking for how the team could reach its potential.

Others enjoy participation ribbons

It was during the sweet 16 game originally. I think the thread provides an interesting divide between those that are competitive and those who aren't. Most knew we would atleast get here. And now we're on the verge of greatness
