Tomorrow’s game

Austin, Tx airport doesn't have de-icing? Wow. They think they are pretty cool but that sounds pretty podunk. Do they actually have an air traffic control tower, and paved runways?

game has been delayed again no date now

Gotta say, this is a little silly. I mean, c’mon. In general, societally speaking we seem to be less and less able to adapt to difficult circumstances daily.

Unless something else has come up, this seems to be all on the Austin airport.

This weather system was forecast well in advance. I don’t get why, knowing they lack the proper equipment, a decision wasn’t made to just have Texas fly to OK Saturday or Sunday. I sure hope our schedule doesn’t end up being too hectic the week before the league tournament.

At this point, we should probably choose between makeup games and the tournament. Normally I'd be loathe to give up the latter, but with Baylor's commanding lead, maybe it's not necessary?

What are the rules on declaring the conference title this year? Is there a minimum number of games required? Or are they even declaring a champion? If not, I am sure OSU and KU will give out rings.

To be fair Austin has not had more than 5 inches in a winter in 35 years. This may be more than that in a few days.

I mean, it’s 33 degrees in Austin right now. If they can’t figure out how to clear a runway and get a plane ready for safe travel in the current conditions, then I’m not sure I ever want that crew in charge of my flights.

It’s not hard to load up a bus. I guess the horns are to good to bus.

I’m not positive but I think it would be determined by winning percentage if teams don’t all play the same number of games. I don’t know if a minimum number of games is required ... I think they will just be flexible depending on the circumstances. But with Baylor being a mile ahead of everyone in the standings, I don’t think there will be much controversy unless their pause continues so long that they only end up playing 10 or 12 games.

Good point about OSU ... although I don’t think KU has ever had to pretend to win the league. On the other hand, they do like to say they have five national titles even though they really only have three.

If this were to help the game tip off then it should be utilized. Is it a sacrifice? Yes, make them (sacrifices).

Travel is not particularly safe whether by plane or bus right now. I know we want to see these teams play, but if it's not safe, then I don't want them to come.

I read on a Texas board that the UT campus has been closed all week and that that the basketball team hasn't practiced since Saturday.......hmmmm?

What are the chances of this and the Baylor game being made up? Pretty slim?

There is no way Baylor will be able to make up all of their games. The conference will have to figure out which ones get outright canceled. I won’t be surprised at all if our game with them gets axes, but I’d expect the Texas game to be played.

First link shows wet, but clear roads in Austin. Second link shows Dallas highways are very passable (you click on the LBJ vid provided). Last link shows I-35 & I-40 interchange has clear roads. Roads are not the issue. What is? Got me.

FWIW, Houston is also having trouble getting out of town to fly to Wichita for tomorrow’s game.
