He started the season completely off any mock draft radars, and over the past three weeks has gone from late first to late lottery, and now the mocks that've been updated in the past couple days have him top 5. Since draftexpress was bought out by ESPN, nbadraft.net is probably the most respected draft exclusive site and they have him at 5.

I don't really have anything to add, but haven't seen it discussed much here.

I'm assuming if he's projected as a lottery pick or maybe even just a 1st round pick, he will leave for the NBA after this season. A first round pick gets a guaranteed 3-year contract that can basically set him up for life financially.

I sure hope Kruger is recruiting a PG for next season wince we won't have DeVion Harmon until 2019.

That's true. But draftexpress doesn't exist anymore. So now NBAdraft.net has stepped into its place. It's definitely not as well respected as draftexpress, but it's existed for over fifteen years. It's taken the most respected spot by default.

We need to enjoy TY while he is here because he will almost certainly be in the NBA this time next year. Looking at him when he arrived I never thought I'd say that because he truly is not only short for an NBA PG, but he is also slight. And he will likely get smoked defensively for his first few years in the league as PG's like Russ eat him up early in his career. But he is such a gifted and unique talent that I have no doubt at least one team choosing in the top 10 (or Top 5) will take on whatever risk is involved.

The only way I see him staying is dependent on his personal goals, which of course, I am not privy to. If his goal is to be a lottery pick, then I think he can pack his bags and realize his goal. If his goal is to enter the NBA at a level where he can possibly be an immediate star, then he probably needs to come back at least one more year. He could stand to get a little bigger/stronger and perhaps work on his stamina (he has shown signs of wearing down later in games). Those are pretty nit-picky criticisms though. He could likely be an effective back-up PG in the NBA right now.

I held out some hope for his return when he was maybe a first rounder. Still some when they said he might be top-10. Now that they're calling him top-5 I don't expect him to stay at all.

This.

If we don't hear anything about a 2018 PG or grad transfer would it be safe to assume TY has told Lon he's staying his soph year? As many have said, Lon isn't the type to be caught unprepared.

Unless they think we are good with Shepard running pt? I mean i like Shep personally but not sure i like him as a starting PG for this program.

Shepherd will do well at the point next season.

I've had him in the top 5 since the Oregon trip. I now have him top 3. Thinking about starting a website to compete with nbadraft.net.

Problem won't be Shep at starting PG it will be the backup PG position. It would be a juco kid again or a 3 star or worse coming in. I actually really like Shep and what he brings to the team. Toughness and defense with some length and athleticism.

He’s not top 4. Ayton, Porter, bagley, and the foreign dude are top 4.

But I’ve said all along one and done...

I think the highest he goes is four. I don’t see him passing doncic, bagley, or Ayton, just due to size and athleticism. But he could pass porter jr if teams are concerned with a 19 year old with back problems.

Not saying he will go four, but that seems like his ceiling to me. He’s going to have real problems finishing at the next level in the paint, and drawing fouls or kicking out from down there there is a pretty huge part of his game.

dancic should be #1. that kid is a monstrous talent.

Trae should be the first point guard taken.

Don’t forget about Chris Giles. Haven’t seen enough of him to say how he would do as a back up? But he was one of our top targets at the point not too long ago.

We need a really good PG to pair with Sheperd next season. We're going to have a lot of good pieces next season and our PG needs to be in the top half of the B12. I really like Sheperd as a backup, but he doesn't have the quickness I would like to see. He's solid in every category but doesn't do anything really well. JMHO.

It's my belief that PG is the most important position in college basketball, and we need a good one for 2018-2019. I'm hoping for a grad transfer to make the 1-year transition from Trae to De'Vion Harmon.

Agreed. This would make the most sense.

Fun ride... Hope he kills it in the league next year. Incredible to have the home town kid do this in his backyard, will be a very good recruiting tool for Lon going forward.

I think he's going to settle in that top 7-8 range because of his size.
