Jamal Bieniemy, a 2018 guard from Tompkins High School in Katy, TX will be taking an unofficial visit to Norman this weekend. 247 lists him at 6'3" but I've also seen him listed at 6'5". He's definitely a 2. I've seen him play a couple of times and, unless he's grown since November, he's not 6'5" but he's a legit 6'3" or 6'4". Good player. Very smooth with the ball. More of a scorer than a true shooter.

247 CB has him 100% OU...of course it is only 2 guys predicting but they were both recent. I like what I read about the kid. I would rather hear that he is an assassin from behind the arc but I do like everything else I read.

I'm opposite. I'm tired of having guys won can't create their own shot. It took Buddy 2+ years to figure that part out. I want guys who can. I like scorers, who cares how it goes in.

Joe DuVall at SoonerScoop said LK and Hartman went to watch Bieniemy in April and immediately offered him. They think he is extremely underrated and could be the answer for a long wing combo player in the 2018 class. They're going after him hard.

This is an important visit for the Sooners.

Oh I agree....I was simply saying we could use all the shooting we can get. We need scorers for sure.

so you would prefer we never recruited Buddy Hield? That makes no sense. :facepalm

Not what I meant, just that I prefer scorers to shooters. Buddy, lest we forget, was nothing special until his junior year. But I think OU needs a balance of shooting and scoring. OU has had good shooters, but very few players who could create their own shot. Didn't mean to make it sound like I didn't want Buddy. My bad!

I want shooters, shooters, and more shooters. That's how you win in today's game.

I want guys who can score in multiple ways. One thing that made Buddy a star was that he was able to take guys of the double and, at least, use the dribble to generate space for his shot. Volumes have been written here about how Odomes would be much more dangerous if he could make 3 pointers with any consistency. McGusty can do both.

Yep. Those asking for players that can do both really well, we aren't KU, UK, or Duke.

Give me the guys that are really good shooters, but not absolute statues (ie, are capable of driving at times).

Especially with the offense LK runs, shooters should be the premium.

Part of our problem last year was a lack of shooting. You can have all the scorers in the world and if you've got no three point shooting everyone can pack it in to cut off the drive and smother your inside game.

Having a couple of shooters open up the lanes and your whole offense opens up.
