Watch Robert Goff online tonight

I didn't realize UCO was as good as they are this year. He really has it rolling down there the past few years. And this year they only have one out-of-state player on the roster and two not from the metro area. Pretty impressive.

I'd be skeptical of a Terry Evans hire, though, to be honest.

I haven't been that excited about it in the past, but he wins every place he coaches and he plays that Tubbs style of basketball.

If they can't get Marshall at WSU then I say go for Terry Evans. Give him a shot. He can't do any worse, that's for sure.

Rebounds and defense! Update anyone?
Finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds. It was very obvious that Hutch was still hung over from the last second loss at Butler, & Barton's not a team that you play that way against & get away w/ it very often.

I missed the first half last night and watched the second. A poster said he had 5 points when I tuned in. He finished with 13. I didn't realize he had 12 rebounds until Salt City Sooner posted it. That may be because Goff was not the determined, relentless player I expected to see on defense or on the boards. I also saw watched last week's Hutch-Three Rivers game when he only scored 4 points.

In view of all of the hype throughout his recruitment, I was not overly impressed with what I saw of Robert Goff. He's better than Thompson to be sure. And, unless Neal develops a mean streak and more muscle in the off season, Goff will be ahead of him in the rotation when the season begins. But after six quarters of not finding a heck of a lot about Goff to impress me, I believe it's safe to say that he is not an impact player, nor is he a starter on next year's team.

To be honest, I was left shaking my head wondering, "What the heck did Capel see that made him pursue this guy like he was the greatest player to come down the pike since Blake Griffin?" I can only hope that he's right and I'm wrong, and that Goff is not another in a long list of recruits who have turned out to be more disappointments than game changers.

Don't know why everyone is so shocked, if you go back and read the threads regarding Goff, people who have watched him or have connections to the Jayhawk Conference have been downplaying his impact for months. Former teammate of mine is an assistant coach for a NAIA school in KS, has seen Goff play and says he can help OU.

Listen, I don't think he will Orlando Allen bad for OU and never play. Also don't believe he is the second coming of Taj Gray out of JUCO and will have a significant impact. With that said, he will contribute, he's going to be the first big off the bench (assuming we don't pick up another impact big) to alter some shots and rebound. You get 5-6 boards a game from him with comparable points, that's a success. Will admit he needs to be more physical.

I wish there was a way we could devise a scheme to get Joe Mitchell out of his LOI with Ohio and sign him. That kid is a baller. He's probably kicking himself he signed early, because he would have a lot of Big 12 offers had he waited. Kansas City kid, too, FWIW.

Would anyone here be happy with finishing the recruiting class with Jurick and Guerrero?

How much better would we be? Another rebounding/shot blocking post and a probable 4-year PG would might end up being a solid-but-not-stellar PG? Honestly, I don't think we will end up signing a stud/difference maker type player....but picking up good players who can contribute in some fashion is better than throwing schollies at just anybody and ending up with a bench full of guys you are afraid to put on the floor. If Goff, Guerrero and Jurick ended up better than Thompson, Hardrick, Washington and Blair we would be a better team....AND our size would be better and more competitive than having to play 4 guards every night in the Big XII.

Just my opinion.

I would like to see OU sign Guererro and scoring two guard or wing. But if there is not a consistent scorer available, I would settle for Guererro and Jurick. I think Guererro is a must! Maybe our coaches have a back up plan that I'm not familiar with who could have a similar impact next season. Judging by what I've seen of Cezar, he's definitely the one I want.

I'll go on record by saying that next year's team will be better, even if Osby and Goff are the only additions. That prediction is based on three things: a) I don't see how we can get much worse? (b I have to assume the returning players will work hard in the off season to improve. c) Osby and Goff are an improvement over all but one post player on this year's team.

Add Guererro and/or a scoring wing or post player capable of contributing and I believe OU will be back in the hunt for a post-season birth. It may be the NIT. But we will not be forced to suffer through being a forgotten program in the post-season again.
