We’re a lot better defensively w/out Manek

I don't think Manek is the problem with this team.

But he's this year's designated Player to Blame. A dubious honor, admittedly, but one that's awarded every season (very occasionally there's a tie and two players share the award).

I still blame Payton Pritchard.

Do you attend every practice? Spend a lot of time in the locker room? Otherwise, I’m not sure how you’d know what technique he coaches and whether he gets on guys for not blocking out. We obviously aren’t a great rebounding team ... but it seems a leap to draw sweeping conclusions like this.

Just watch next game and see the lack of blockouts. That is all. We can get rebounds and still not be good at blocking out. That's what i was mainly trying to get at in my last post. Even back to spangler days, he wasn't a good block out guy. But then hed bust his butt to stretch for the rebounds and hed usually get them. I know the cool guys (1A basketball coach lol) on the board are talking crap, but honestly watch the next game and let me know your thoughts then. Watch how many dudes stick their arms out and back out a offensive player

He’s a terrible defensive player and acts like he doesn’t even care to ever play defense. However, we need his offense badly. We have a good team, capable of winning another 7-8 games and making the tourney. That’s about all OU fans can ever hope for from the program. We’ll never win a title, not that any of this is new information. It’s been that way since 1992.

So OU isn’t bad at rebounding they are just bad at blocking out? Spangler didn’t block out? Man facts really make you backtrack.

It’s been that way since forever.

Fair point. There was about 5 years in the Tubbs years where we dared to dream, but it was only heartache.

We could have won it in 2016. Yes, we got absolutely mudholed by Nova in the Final Four, but we also pasted that same Nova team on a neutral floor earlier in the year.

Could have also won it all in 2002 if Mizzou doesnt cheap shot Quannis with 30 seconds left in the elite 8 game. We had already beaten Maryland

What a joke of a post

In the last two games, our adjusted defensive efficiency rating has improved from #74 to #51 according to Kenpom. For metrics/stats nerds like me, that is mind blowing.

Post KSU, our Kenpom adjusted defensive efficiency rating is up to #41 now in just over 3 weeks (from #75).....remarkable.

Awesome insight. It was 100% accurate but go ahead and get your panties in a twist.

OU has been to multi final 4's after 1992 and been a 1 or 2 seed 4 times since then ...

so your post factually not true ...

Manek got a much-deserved ass chewing from Lon after a couple of defensive lapses in the second half. I'm sure he'll get his legs back, but his teammates aren't going to wait on him.

Hopefully the pouting will cease. The dudes in C&C are out there playing some D.

Agreed. The best defense as a team I have seen in years!

Brady’s timing was off, and he looked a little frail to me. So, for those reasons I think he should get a pass, for now. But it was also obvious to me he had better get on board if he wants to keep his spot in the starting lineup. It’s definitely not a given anymore!

In a post-game radio interview with Toby, Brady sounded happier and more animated than I'd ever heard him before. I think those two weeks were difficult for him.
