The only place Iowa St. plays great is in Ames. They live and die by the 3. The odds automatically go in OU's favor when the "3 point shooting" Cyclones are away from home. I like our chances.

You do realize there will be a ton of ISU fans in KC right... it'll see like a home game to the players

About as close as you can get. If you have ever been to the tourney in KC you know that they come in droves. They will clearly have an advantage. Still not home court but much closer than us.

I think the OP's point is that it's not their home gym. They'll likely have the energy of the crowd behind them, but for shooting purposes -- especially three-pointers -- playing in a less-familiar environment could have a negative impact.

We just lost to TCU! Why in the world do the odds automatically go in our favor?

we also just beat ISU. 18-22 year olds can be Jekyl and Hyde like. And to take it further, the Thunder have lost to both the Wizards and Cavs this year. Sometime you just have a bad game a lose to an inferior opponent

And they beat us as well.

I just read an article on the Fox Sports website. They were saying that the OU vs Iowa St. game was a must win for Iowa St. They were the in danger team and no mention that OU would be in any jepordy if they lost.

We are also 8-8 in Road/Neutral Games while Iowa State is 5-9

Very true. I ran the numbers for the conference (assuming I added correctly) and the big difference (what I expected) is FT attempts. This is typical for home court calls which is most impacted by fans IMHO which probably does provide an advantage for them in KC. From watching them this year I felt like they got away with a log of reaching at home but not on the road. Obviously, they are also getting all the reach fouls called on opponents at home as well.

But you are right - this is still not a pure home court advantage.

Road:
FGs: 238-521 (47%)
3FGs: 97-245 (40%)
FTs: 101-142 (71%)

Home:
FGs: 239-522 (46%)
3FGs: 91-236 (39%)
FTs: 169-233 (76%)

I just checked the betting line. It appears the game broke as a pickem and OU has been bet to -1.

Do you actually enjoy OU hoops? Not trying to be a jerk about it or make a personal attack. But is there anything about the current state of the program [that exceeded every preseason expectation from both the media and the coach's] that you are okay with?

It would be great to beat ISU in KC (basically an ISU "home" crowd) and get to play KU again. Can't wait to see those stupid Zubaz uniforms KU will have for the Big12s.

I don't care what the media and coach's expectations are...I have my own expectations. I don't have to have a bias opinion just b/c i am an OU fan.

When you have a 1st team all big 12 player and 2 other rounding out the all big 12 team...i expect to beat a 1-16 team

Of course you do -- so do we all. That's why they're called upsets.

KU has two first-teamers, a second teamer, and an honorable mention on the All-Big 12 squad, along with a Big 12 title and a Top 10 national ranking, and they lost to TCU on the road.

It happens.

ISU will be a tough matchup for us. They are really tough to beat when they hit their 3s. We'll have to play real well to win and will basically be in a road environment with the fan advantage behind them. Beating ISU in a road environment in KC would be huge.

I think we probably weren't as focused for the TCU game after OSU beat KSU basically ending our chances to move up in rakings. We did come back in the 2nd half and played pretty good. Hard to win when you can't make a 3 pointer and are down 27 points at one time.
