I have no idea who it might be.
Hopefully they are over 6-1, athletic and can player the 4 or 5 slot.
Ideally they are top 30 rated by at least one service.

Taylor Robertson of McPherson, Kansas. I've seen her listed as a 5'7" and 5'9" point guard. She was the Kansas Gatorade player of the year.

ANOTHER 5-9 GUARD????
You have to be kidding. She sounds like a good pickup. She also sounds like exactly the same type of player as Murcer or Tatum.

Is she aware she can recruit players above 6-0??

rbeam,
the issue is not Taylor's qualifications at all. What does she bring that's different than
Tatum and Murcer. Nothing.
Sherri already had two guard verbals. There's zero need in this class to add another player with
those specs.
In the last two classes Sherri now has 6 verbals
5 guards/wings
1 forward

does that look like roster balance to you??
We're approaching Kittle/Patton levels of recruiting incompetence.

This is really making me scratch my head. This kid is a shooter and saw her make 8 3's in a game at the adidas Gauntlet against a just okay team. maybe Gatorade player of year in Kansas but not close to top 10 kid in Texas. I watched Texas Elite Prime beat her team by 25 and Veitenheimer guarded Robertson. She couldn't get a shot off. The atheticism of Tatum and Taylor are night and Day. Defensively Tatum brings something we have not had on the court in a long time. Taylor can shoot but at the highest level I do not see how she can be a pg. TK was front and center and watched them both play. Like I said it wasn't even a game Tatum ran the show without question. I wonder if this is going to make kids think about their commitment? This is for sure a head scratcher. Tatum shania and ana are all athletic very skilled players that are a different level than the others committing. Look at other options these kids have it's not hard to tell.but I will say if this kid is left unguarded she can shoot it. Let's hope our kids can set lots of screens.

The roster isn't unbalanced... after this year, we will onl have four returning guards. With the three commits that's seven which about the right number. Maybe one or two more. Then you add the forwards/centers. I agree it's disturbing that we don't have a center commit yet, but it'll come.

Sounds very similar to Derricka Wyatt. She seemed a little more athletic to me than her. But if she can be a little better than Wyatt, then it's an upgrade. Tatum has already retweeted her commitment so I'd say she approves.

Rbeam,
you realize next year right now there's no taller one than 6-0 than EJ. Who has been a part time infrequent contributor.
There's zero way to add post talent from the juco game from all previous indicators.
Simpson is going to have to start at PF. EJ at center. There's no one else.
Roster imbalance.

I'm familiar with the roster, so yes I'm aware of that. However, I don't believe the final roster will only have one player over 6'.

If you look at the past three years, we need people who can:

---shoot
---score

We just lost eight who had a bit of difficulty shooting with a high percentage. Murcer, Veitenheimer, and Robertson seem to be shooters and scorers.

Hard to tell. Clearly she has great shooting touch but appears to be a bit slow getting the shot off. While she seems to have good handles I don't see her as a point guard. Definitely someone you want to high tail it to the three point line on fast breaks.

On the positive side may have a very good basketball IQ. At that level very good use of change of pace dribble and fakes that give her some space to shoot. If we screen well enough to make the defender go behind the screen she will light them up.

Just hard to see how her game will play at the next level. Our offense doesn't seem to get players open for many open shots.

I do think she will be better than Derica.

The guards that we lost to graduation or transfer were:
in conference play
FG%
37.9%
40.7%
34.7%
41.0%
42.9%

3PT%
33.0%
32.3%
27.5%
27.3%
38.9%

Incidentally, Manning was 43.0 and 46.0%. Ortiz was 38.7 and 36.8%.

We need better shooters than hitting 27-33% from three and less than 40% from the field. It is difficult to pull people away from the rim if you can't hit some kind of shot. It is about scoring.

It seems that Sherri is recruiting scorers. Hopefully, they can do other things. If you have someone who can create, it means that you can toss it to a shooter, and they will have sufficient time.

Three questions
Who is the back up center in 2018-2019?
Who is the back up PF in 2018-2019?
Who is the back up big wing to Llanusa in 2018-2019?

Anyone answer those 3 questions?

OU will bring in the #1 and #2 recruits at post, power forward, and big wing in the 2018 class.

What is the proof? Well, what is the proof that causes the questions over completely unknown situations at this time? Wait and see.

Sherri's history is what causes those questions, Syb.

I agree, I'd like to see some bigs, since we're down to three one of which, EJ, is probably only good for rest and foul minutes.

We need a presence under the board and at the 4.

This is really bad news for Rich and maybe a couple of others.

Sherri's history is that we have always had interior players, some of the better ones in history. Want to try again?
