We have a new verbal commitment

Our loss of both recruits may well cause us to recruit one or two more than we normally might. As I understand, Burrell and Doumbia were both here. Morris is due in for a visit. The other is a 2019 who might well be eligible in 2018-2019---foreign players have different academic backgrounds, the reason we originally thought Doumbia was a 2019.

Of our nine (ten on scholarship) who are active this year, we lose four.

Who would you want us to pick up of those three? I mean, realistically we may only get one of the three, if any. You seem to know your stuff so i'm interested. To me, seems like we would want Doumbia, i just think we need one more explosive, super talented guard in this class!

I don't know that anyone "Knows their stuff" when it comes to recruiting. We read what is in blogs.

I think OU has a 2019 that may have committed (the BOOM of Sept 23). When I look at what we will have in 2018-2019--after the seniors leave, it's:

6-5 Williston
6-4 Odimgbe
6-3 Lampkin
6-1 Williams
6-0 Simpson
6-0 Llanusa
5-10 Rich (if healthy)
5-9 Penzo
5-9 Robertson
5-8 Veitenheimer
5-7 Murcer
5-7 Pellington

If we are still recruiting 5-9 Doumbia, 6-1 Morris, and 6-1 Burrell, it really comes down to which is the most important for this team. Who is the best athlete? Burrell seems to be the scorer. Doumbia seems to draw accolades as an athlete.

I have not one clue. That is Sherri's job, to know who is actually good--not just the hype. She knows what she needs to build a team. She also has an idea of who she can get the next year.

We may be looking mostly at these next year:

Prospect Nation/HoopGurlz
NR/#2 Laeticia Amihere 6-3 F King's Way Christian, Milton, Ontario, Can
#13/#23 Taylor Jones 6-3 P Dallas Christian, Forney, Tx
#14/#5 Haley Jones, 6-1 W Santa Cruz Archbishop MItty, CS
#31/#16 Kennedy Brown 6-5 P Derby Senior, KS
Gabby Gregory 6-0 SF/PF Tulsa Holland Hall, OK

I'm not sure about Taylor Jones. We are following or have visited the others. We have an offer to Gregory who is probably a strong OU lean, coming from an OU family. Thus, we may be looking more at the interior next year.

I have no idea who we want, nor do I knew which want us. But, I think we already have one of our better classes in years, and the future is looking a bit stronger for next year as well. It's now fun to watch.

We do graduate two, which means that we have five more available for the next two years. I'm not sure when Rich's becomes available. It may be the following year which means we would only have one that year.

Right now OU doesn’t have a real Power forward on the team, I think Simpson will be more of a center and the kid Morris from Arkansas is also a center, Rae would be the player I would like to see OU get. She is more of a power forward then a small forward, and could challenge for a starting spot, looks like Pam just started follow Rae on twitter over the weekend... I think she’s been waiting to see what happens with Tennessee, I believe that’s where she would like to go.

I think she will take Tennessee if offered. But, you never know. I was somewhat surprised that she came at this late date. She is, apparently, not settled. Lampkin isn't a power forward?

I'm also wondering about Shae Routt. Did she open up recruiting or just decommit without further action? I see her as somewhat similar to Burrell, maybe more schooled since both parents played, and her mother was her coach.

Fifty-seven percent from three.

She is not a little girl. I saw that she is not regarded as quick. What I saw was someone built in a way that made them look slow when she was actually moving past "quicker" guards on her way to the rim. Is she really only 5-9? Looks about 5-11. Must have been playing some short girls.

A buddy of mine that lives in Hutchinson asked Jon Ontjes(head women's coach at Hutch Juco) recently about her. He said she is ultra competitive, extremely intense, plays hard every second. But, she may be a little slow and lacking in foot quickness for D1 ball. That is just opinion. He was overall very complimentary.

Even if she comes off the bench and can give us 2-3 threes a game and go off occasionally, that will be a big help for the future...

Would other teams (coaches) have their strength and conditioning coach talking to her NOW???

Just wondering what other teams do with their recruits....
