We might have a commitment..........

Sorry but it's just silly to rag on a kid like that. I thought most would have learned their lesson from the Godbold thing. He was DEFINITELY a nice contributor to this program overall and many were talking crap when we got him on board.

We dn't know what his role will be so it is IMPOSSIBLE to say what his impact will be.

Exactly.

well said cool

Yes you did! You made it sound bad that the kid was recruited by ORU! This is the perfect kid to be recruiting. WANTS to be a Sooner! Not a good thing when a kid just signed with our program to even remotely attempt a response like that, just not the thread for it.

He was being recruited by ORU and possibly Tulsa. What's the problem?

Wow, I have said nothing that's even remotely questionable. I was simply replying to someone that doesn't agree with me. When did this become orangebloods? You should really wait for someone to say something questionable before getting so touchy.

I apologize if I misunderstand your intent. But I didn't interpret the remark you made about recruiting against ORU as a compliment. Maybe I was wrong.

Like pnk said a local kid who wants to be here. We desperately need kids who will bust tail - making it a perfect signing for our needs.

I am sad I didnt point something out earlier this week. Kentucky and a couple of others were on some kid who had been recruited by basically NO ONE of import earlier. I wanted to make some snide comment about him "obviously not being any good since no one wanted him before" but refrained. Kids have different strengths which make them attractive to different schools for different reasons. Having a local kid can be a major boon for us.

If you were wrong, so was I. That's exactly how I read it, and I believe it's how it was intended.

Seems to me at this point this program could use some more hard working kids who want OU to win and will care more about the team instead of themselves. We also need some kids who won't act like total idiots off the court.

I'll bet you anything this kid won't be caught stealing clothes at Dillards next year immediately after a big win. I will also bet you he attends practice everyday and doesn't care about his individual stats.

I like the signing. It's a sign to me we may be headed in the right direction.

Cade Davis is probably our best player going into next year. Not our most talented but overall he'll do the most and he wasn't recruited by anyone. If Tyler Neal is another Cade Davis type guy we need about 2 or 3 more of those.

Not only is he the player of the year in our state but these quotes by his coach is what this team needs desperately!!!!!

They’re not only getting an outstanding, sky-is-the-limit basketball player, but they’re getting a fine young man in Tyler Neal,” Stogsdill said. "If they’re looking for class and character, they definitely found it in Tyler Neal. He’s a diamond in the rough.”

yep

Guys, I apologize if I upset anyone by jumping into what should be an upbeat thread for a change with both feet. It's that with everything we've been through lately with high-profile recruits who had multiple stars by their names, one would think that this board would be ecstatic about a commitment from a local kid, who by all accounts is a really nice young man and a great student.

Tyler Neal may not be the most athletic basketball player I've seen. But he has a nice skill set that includes a variety of post moves, he has a good touch from short range, he uses both hands well and he can shoot it from three.

More importantly, he wants to be a Sooner! What is there to be unhappy about?

I think this is a great move, and the direction we need to go in at this time.

Give me heart, hustle, and a willingness to get better, than someone who thinks OU owes them something.

Kids like this have been winning more tournament games this year than the ones we had.

I don't have a problem with the commit. He is supposed to be a good kid who won't cause problems and will work his tail off. I don't think this is in question. I am concerned with the state of the program, as are most of you, when we are struggling to get kids signed and our best options are juco bandaids or kids that we have to fight ORU for. I hope he is another Cade, but we are going to need alot more than that. At this point, I think he was probably our best and most realistic option. Good luck to him and I hope he makes a long term commitment to the Sooners.

Seems like a good player to get to me...... should be a Godbold/Davis/Taylor Griffin type that just helps you win games for 4 years. Every team needs a few guys like that.
