I ask you, what coach, or if you like, what coach in a major conference, would not get fired with this 5-year record?

2015-2016: 22-11 overall / 11-7 Big 12
2016-2017: 23-10 overall / 13-5 Big 12
2017-2018: 16-5 overall / 11-7 Big 12
2018-2019: 8-22 overall / 4-14 Big 12
2019-2020: 12-18 overall / 5-13 Big 12

Even if you add in the glory years...she still deserves to be fired because of the dramatic fall.

We've had 207 points scored on us in two of the last three games.

THIS IS BS! She needs to be out the door 24 hours after we get beat in the first game of the Big 12 tournament!

There should be NO "we'll let you retire" or "we'll find you an administrative job and let you teach."

FIVE YEARS OF ABSOLUTE CRAP and next year will likely be crap too, even if she is fired.

ENOUGH! FIRE SHERRI COALE THE SECOND THIS SEASON ENDS

Link to Guerin Emig's column this weekend. Excerpts...

When a player with Chelsea Dungee’s profile — she was a top-60 national recruit at Sapulpa when Coale signed her in 2015 — departs one program only to thrive at another, it leaves a mark. Dungee was All-SEC last year at Arkansas, and now leads the 24-8 Razorbacks with a 17-point average.

A head coach who makes it a family business is advised to win, and Coale has not since promoting her son.

A head coach who makes a ton of money is advised to win. Coale is paid $1.1 million annually under terms of the $8.96 million contract rubber stamped by OU’s Board of Regents in 2014.

Any coach can attest the money is great until you must answer to it. Coale is answering to it.

She is answering to a few things that are making a strenuous time for her program even more so.

Sherri is still offering scholarships to as we speak with offer to Kilbie Washington. Not the actions of a coach retiring. Sherri will be back next year and likely fulfill her contract that runs through the 2023 season making another $3.3 million.

Who says that Mediocrity doesn't pay!!!!:OU-logo:

The fans need to completely sit out next year. I know that very few go to the games now but it is needs to be reduced to zero for a change to occur. I feel for the girls but something has to change. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few hit the portal this year including Roberson and Madi Williams. It is just SAD.

I've had it. I have been a season ticket holder since the Paris days. I am through going to games until Sherri is gone.

I have already quit attending as much as in the past. Went to non conference games, but not since. Won't go again until something changes.

Joe C. is again proving that basketball does not matter to him.

I believe she will be gone by the end of the semester. I can't believe Joe not hearing from fans. I know it is not like hearing from football fans, but still.

Too, I don't think Colton has anything to do with it one way or the other. Just like the other two coaches and Amanda Thompson. Just like the coaches that were let go last year. The last coach who made an impact besides Sherri was Bo and maybe, as far as recruiting, the woman who played in High School for Sherri and then played at Uconn.
I think Sherri did some really poor planning when she let Colton stay around. She did his career no good, even if he wanted to be there, how could she not see that things were going downhill and I didn't see her make changes. If something continues to fail, you have to figure out why and make appropriate changes.

She got lucky with the Paris twins which allowed her to recruit gsome players who were good and wanted to get better and had the skills and athleticism to do better. Plus, they were counting on playing in the WNBA. I imagine the 2009-10 Seniors were the last to really believe that. Maybe a couple of players who have come along since thought they might/had the dream but just weren't that good even if they had developed. And they weren't going to develop. Just my 2 cents. And I really am not mad at the coaches or players. I don't know if Sherri understands she is not going to bring back the program or understands how it got there. But she has someone above her who should have set things straight several years ago.
Anyway, I don't know basketball like most of you but I believe I have some insight into people. Studying people has always been something I have done so that is where I am getting this two cents. Just my opinion.

C Vivian Stringer

Close relative to the last 5-7 years, however...and overall, no comparison. Plus, with all of Stringers accomplishments, her base salary is $775K through 2021 (has not been extended) to Coale's $1.3M through 2023. Stringer has won twice as many games...she'll "probably" retire next year and stay on as an ambassador with Rutgers unless she suddenly recruits some top 10 players. Coale is overpaid compared to her peers...some significantly more successful. When you've been at the bottom of the conference...and returned to the horrible record of where you started, one would think that a coach would move on (retire, take another university job, go coach elsewhere)...do the right thing. And not get the hook-up for your family/son.

Unlike Sherri Stringer has brought in enough talent to at least hang around the top half of the big 12, she’s also brought in 2 top 20 players in her last 2 classes... Sherri seems to be more on the lines of Sylvia Hatchel, who has moved on from UNC which was a power at one time like the oU program was. Even with all that 2 seasons doesn’t a career make, I expect Sherri to be back next year, unless we see a bunch of transfers this off season.

Good points Mac. Since SC is still there after all that has happened...I tend to believe that she will be there until she decides to leave. And why would she volunteer to give up her remaining contract years to the tune of $2.6M? It makes no sense compared to how these things usually play out with continually declining programs...they usually work something out before they allow a coach to run the program back into the same hole they had to dig it out from.

Stringer agreed in 2014 to have her salary reduced from $1,000,000. They increased her bonus provisions to stimulate success. She has done a better job the last few years. She has always been a pretty good recruiter. Has a good reputation with parents of players. Paying for accomplishing something is not a bad idea Joe C.

That's called integrity, confidence and commitment.

I think Sherri will be back again, not sure if they could/would find someone that would be willing to put in the work. Now if they paid near what they pay SC then yeah finding a coach wouldn't be to hard....But OU most likely would want to low ball someone.

There would be some takers...maybe younger, up and coming with a strong recruiting history. AND willing to surround his/herself with assistants/staff who can develop and coach. It might help for that person to hire an assistant that was a top player at OU.
