Like to talk about some former Sooners on here and share memories.

Corey was someone who I followed as I was in middle school and listened to a lot of games on the radio. I remember him being an outstanding FT shooter, I remember his toughness (something about him bleeding all over the court in one game). He was a very strong defender and exactly the kind of guy that Coach Sampson wanted. Grew up in a tough area if I recall.

What do you remember about Corey Brewer?

He could always score or get to the line late in games.

Terrific player, very talented, but played a little out of control. Sampson even commented that Corey drove him a little crazy at times, but that he respected Corey's ability and toughness.

Yep, the Omega tat and him being a bowling ball in regards to getting in the paint and finishing. For his size, he was very good at this. Dude was just a baller.

What I remember most about Corey Brewer boils down to one word - TOUGHNESS. The guy had several pellet bullets lodged inside him from when he was a teenager growing up in a tough neighborhood (I think it was Memphis). Oh, and he was the best guard in the Kelvin Sampson era not named Hollis Price.

Took the word right out of my mouth, WF. Toughness! Corey was as tough as they come, both physically and mentally. He had to be in the environment he grew up in. You're right, it was Memphis. West Memphis to be exact. He was and still is one of my all-time favorites.

Corey was a lucky find for OU. Sampson started recruiting him when he went to a game to watch another player from Seminole. Corey went off and scored a ton points. OU stopped recruiting the other player and went after Corey.

Corey never lost one sprint in Junior College. He was a tough kid from West Memphis and a big reason why OU ended up getting Daryan Selvy later on.

I always remember the Omega sign he threw up on big plays.

west Memphis Arkansas ...

tough kid .. great leader .... also sprained his ankle just about every game during conf his senior year .. and just put his head down and kept going ..

He was tough as nails. He and Najera were about on the same level as far as a warrior mentality. I do not know who was tougher. I loved both of those guys.

We have some mentally strong guys on players on this team. Hopefully they will all improve in this area.

Can you imagine that guy on work rec team? Good freaking luck. I bet to this day he can absolute tear it up.

Those guys were very tough. Eduardo and his teammates during his career probably account for four of the top 10 toughest guys at OU since and including the Tubbs era. Eduardo played with Brewer, Nolan Johnson and Hollis Price. All four of those guys were tough as nails. Hollis may have been small but he was a competitor.

I would probably say the toughest guys at OU that I recall in no particular oder are: Bryan Sallier, Ryan Minor, Corey Brewer, Eduardo, Nolan Jonhsno, Hollis Price, Blake Griffin, and Cade Davis (he played really hard on some below average teams). I am not sure who else I would put on that list.

John Ontjes would be one for this list.

For me, toughness, is mostly competitiveness - just not wanting to lose. This is a really an under-rated quality for a player. To me, AAU ball sometimes doesn't lend itself being worried about winning - to many guys wanting to get theirs. HS games are a better indication of this and guys who transfer to the Prep Schools worry me to some degree.

I like guys who want to win the state championship! Jordan Woodard is a great example. I'll take guys like him.

Think Michael Jordan, Cal Ripken Jr. they hate to lose at anything. Give me those type of guys all day
