I voted for adding new members and keeping the Big 12. Really, what "quality" of schools would we have to add to be where we are at now, or even before NU and CU left? NU wasn't a big tv market. We probably maintain a big tv share in Houston even without aTm. Denver was a decent market, but not irreplaceable.
We don't need ND, BYU, and Arkansas to replace aTm, NU, and CU. Something like Louisville, Houston, and BYU probably puts you at the same prestige level, or maybe even higher.
The Big 12 has been about OU and UT since it's inception. Those two schools are still here.
I also voted for adding new members.
Colorado sucks at everything and you could replace them easily. Pick up Louisville and you got an upgrade.
Texas A&M is pretty good at basketball and pretty good at football, but they have male cheerleaders and have a strange sense of accomplishment, although they have achieved nothing. Pick up Houston and watch them grow into a better program and still keep that city/market (houston).
Replace Nebraska with BYU, and you have an upgrade.
If you can't get BYU, get Central Florida and add a gigantic school with brand new athletic facilities, a high profile football coach, and a new TV market.
The problem is, no one cares about Central Florida and Houston. You aren't getting new markets by adding those teams. The city of Houston does not care about the Houston Cougars. Non-alumni are fans of Texas or aTm, and I would imagine even a good portion of the alums consider themselves UT or aTm fans rather than UH fans.
Same goes for UCF. People in Orlando are Florida or Florida St. fans, not UCF fans. Adding these schools does nothing but create deadweight that we OU and Texas have to share revenue with. Time to get out of this sorry excuse for a conference.
People in Denver couldn't care less about CU, yet people still talk about the Denver tv market.
Those people are just as wrong as you are. Anyone who has spent any time in Denver can tell you that no one there cares about the Buffaloes. Denver is a pro town.
That was his point.
Then why is he still claiming that Houston and C. Florida will bring their city's respective tv markets, if he knows the argument isn't valid?

Im saying that it doesnt matter.
"Pick up Houston and watch them grow into a better program and still keep that city/market (houston)."
"...get Central Florida and add a gigantic school with brand new athletic facilities, a high profile football coach, and a new TV market."

I think this is where some of the confusion in the posts lies...
I played golf with a guy yesterday who had his CU towel on the bag. He thinks that joining the pac will get CU boosters more involved and help the program.

Unless the Prince of Denver (John Elway) is their head coach, I don't think people in Denver will ever really care about CU.
