It's looking like we will have to win out to win the conference outright. 14-4 might have a chance with Kansas' road woes as long as that one loss isn't at WVU or to Kansas.

The wildcard in this race is Texas. They get OU, WVU, and KU at home.

(8-3) OU - Kansas, @Tech, @WVU, OsU, @texas, Baylor, @TCU
(8-3) KU - @OU, OsU, @K-State, @Baylor, Tech, @Texas, Iowa State
(8-3) WVU - TCU, @Texas, OU, Iowa State, @OsU, Tech, Baylor
(7-4) Texas - @Iowa State, WVU, Baylor, @K-State, OU, KU, @OsU

Too early to tell. lots can happen. KU has a pretty tough schedule and could drop a couple more imo.

In my eyes holding serve at home AND winning in Morgantown is essential.

It's tough to win on the road, so I'm thinking 13-5 might win a share of the title. 14-4 would win it outright.

If we finish 13-5, it might be a three way tie for first place.

If we don't win at either WVU or Texas, we don't win the conference. Looking at those schedules, I'd give WVU the inside track to the title followed by KU. I have a feeling that loss to K-State will haunt us like last year.

Right now WV is favored to win out. I don't see that happening, but it highlights how important the 2/20 game in Morgantown will be. Almost a "must win" if we want to win the conference.

To win outright, will have to at least split between Morgantown and Austin and win the rest.

To share, probably lose both in Morgantown and Austin and win the rest.

True, but the other contenders have some pretty haunting losses as well. KU got run out of the gym by currently last place OSU. West Virginia lost a home game to Texas where they missed 15 free throws and shot 14% from 3.

I'd argue that the loss in Lawrence is every bit as "haunting". If Khadeem makes that free throw, OU has a major leg up on everyone else in the conference who can't win at AFH, a 2 game lead on KU, and a 1 game lead on WVU. That's how razor thin the margin of error is in this conference.

yup

Would it surprise anyone though if Iowa State went into Morgantown and got a win?

That would be HUGE for us.

We also probably need Iowa State to beat Texas this weekend.

Need WVU to lose @Texas

And need Kansas to lose to us this weekend, and one more (probably @ Texas or @Baylor)

We need to win Saturday, @Morgantown and @Austin. I don't see us winning outright without that. That K-State loss is going to haunt us again.

We'll be fine! Every team has at least one head-scratching loss.

WVU will drop at least 2 more, so will Kansas.

I'm with you on this one. There's a chance 14-4 will get it outright but no way 13-5 is anything but a share.

I expect WVU's poor shooting to catch up with them at least one more time this season. They only shoot it at 31.4% from 3. That's tied for 298th in the country. They try to make up for it by creating additional possessions, but if the refs don't let them just maul people either in the press or on the offensive glass, they get into serious trouble.

Yes, and I fully expect another laid egg somewhere along the line. It's basketball. That's what happens.

No matter what, we need Baylor to actually come through and win an important game (or 2) for once.

If they could hold serve against WVU, Kansas, ISU or any combination of the 3, it would be HUGE for us

As others have said, I believe we need to beat Kansas and only lose one other game. I think 14-4 gets us the outright title. If we lose to Kansas and win out, Kansas might also be there at 14-4. So it all starts Saturday.
