It's usually been announced by now. Would you guys take Newton #1?

Not me. When it's all said and done I would take his teammate, that beast Nick Fairley.

yea, idk. the #1 slot is something of an unfortunate position b/c regardless of whom you pick they're getting a LOT of money.

I dont think many QBs are worth it and certainly not Newton.

if i were Carolina i'd try desperately to trade out, but not many teams are willing to give much up in that scenario. so i'd probably pick Patrick Peterson. by all accounts he seems to be a legit difference-maker. CBs largely are able to come in and contribute right away. with Peterson he's just as valuable as a return man.

it's just my preference, you gotta love the all-pro level CB on any team.

As long as my Detroit Lions don't take Quinton Carter, I don't really care what else happens.

It's going to be Newton.

I wouldn't touch him though.

Fairley isn't even top 5.

Carolina needs a face of the franchise guy, these days that means a QB. So it's gotta be Cam.

I don't think he'll be great and certainly not a big winner, but I think he'll be a fairly exciting player. Which, in Carolina's situation won't be the worst thing in the world.

C'Mon Shakeweight, everyone knows Quinton Carter is one of the greatest watch and see players of this generation! He watches the play happen and we see him find a way to make a mistake, he would be a PERFECT fit for the Lions lol
However, if he hits you, best of luck lol

Need my Bears to make a splash with an O-lineman in a bad way.

I'm a browns fan too. How about that ATL trade. We move down 20 spots and got an entire ATL draft in return. I like it.

Wow! Another Browns fan here! Unexpected surprise!

And yeah, I did a dance of joy in my living room.

What's with the Quinton Carter hate in this thread?

Jake Locker at 8?

What a collapse by the Titan organization.

But this collapse pales in comparison to the implosion that was the Vikings pick at 12.

I think Locker was a great pick and will be the best QB in this draft. There was no talent around him. He was the #1 prospect before the season started. The athletic ability is there and so are the leadership qualities.

There is also the quality of him sucking. Nobody cares in the NFL if you are a great athlete at the QB position, this isn't the 70's and Division 1. If you can't throw a ball to WIDE open man, you can't play QB. If you crumble under pressure, you can't play QB. He sucks at both. Don't bother posting a 40 time or three cone drill record he set at U Dub. What I saw at U Dub was a clown who should be playing WR and who only moved the ball with his feet. Not going to work in the NFL unless you want to go 3-13 and lose your first round pick to injury.

I don't think a lot of Cam Newton as a pro QB. I think he's about a Vince Young type player. Good college player, but he's not a fit for the NFL because NFL QBs are pocket QBs, and Young and Newton are really weak at being pocket QBs. I don't now if any of these QBs are worth a first round draft pick this year.

Everytime Locker played a good defense he didn't really play that good. I'm not sure about him as a QB at all. I like Andy Dalton the most, but I don't see him a first round draft pick either.

Locker threw for 38 TDs against 20 picks the past 2 years with a new coach and no decent receivers or OL. He threw for 310 and ran for 110 against USC. Beat them back to back, including the win over #3 USC in 2009 where he threw for 237.

Does anybody seriously think Blaine Gabbert can smell Jake Locker?

Gabbert is a back pick also. USC, lol. I'm not sure any of the QB's are first round talents. Teams get desperate to find the franchise QB and lose the ability to shore up their team.
