Who is going to play Center in 2010-2011?

6'8" Center?

We'll, I guess OU can play Billy Ball and just run and gun with their Center.

We don't have any other option and like many before me have said. Its not like OU has had that many "True Centers" at all and unless we pull one out of hiding then we'll be w/o one again and we'll be ok.

4.6 and 1.8 would concern me more than 6-8 if I were an OU fan.

i see what you did there. But he was a freshman playing behind 2 other guys and produced fairly well in quite a few games and has shown promise and the work ethic to get better.

They'll sign another post to rotate with Fitz, Washington, and Thompson. The wildcards at that position are Honore and Hardrick to see if they'll scratch the rotation.

we dont have to have a center... we just need guys that can guard the post and rebound... and after the last week of recruiting, i think we have that now with a number of guys... there may only be 2 teams in our league with an actual true center... most centers are in the nba, not in college hoops...

You guys are forgetting that every team in the conference has a 7'0" center except for us. Oops, wait...

Who says we need a center? How many college teams have a true center anyway?

I forgot that the NCAA requires every team to play 1 pg, 1 sg, 1 sf, 1pf and 1 c. Capel better hurry and find a center or we will be disqualified from every game.

I think we won't have a true center like most of the time in OU history. Just a bunch of 4s. When Najera was here the closest thing to a center we had was Renzi Stone and Victor Avila. Both or were like 4s. With the Price teams McGhee, Selvy, and Brown all were more 4s.

In the 80s we never really had a true center ever.

Tisdale, Bell, Sallier, King, Wiley...
I would call Webster a 4.

Tisdale was about 6-9 and was a 4 in the NBA, Same with King. Wiley was 6-5. If you look at OU's history there have been very few true 5s in there.

The leading rebounder in Big 12 men's play last season was a 6'6"/6'7" forward (Marquis Gilstrap, ISU). OU just needs guys with the determination to go get the ball. Amanda Thompson was the 2nd leading rebounder for the women in conference play and she is by no means a "big" girl.

Tiny sure as heck didn't play as a true center. He stayed on the perimeter most of the time looking to try 3-point shots. The guy who did most of the rebounding for a while was Tony Crocker and then Fitzgerald. If those taller guys can play in the post and get rebounds, they will be better than Tiny in the low post and I will be content.

So you mean very few NBA type 5s. Sure. There aren't many NBA type 5s in the NBA. I don't have a problem calling a 6-9 wide body a college center if he plays the 5 in college.
