He is a great kid who was totally thrown under the bus by way too many supposed OU "fans" who are led around by the nose by aggie agitators like Doug Gottlieb.

It has become quite apparent the chemistry issues OU had this year were due to TMG wanting to play himself into the NBA draft and had little to do with Willie, other than the fact that Willie is a good natured nice guy who didn't resist enough. Then he got hurt and OU completely fell off a cliff proving he was all that was keeping the ship afloat.

Capel is 100% right. Willie was unfairly ridiculed and blamed. He is going to be a great pro and was a great sooner.

I will not be surprised if Willie is the best OU player ever in the NBA.

I will be. He's going to have to go a long way to top Adams, Tisdale, and Blaylock, not to mention Grant, Najera, Bowie, and Price, just off the top of my head.

And before you call for apologies from anyone else, you owe an apology to Cade Davis.

Willie may have been singled out unfairly by some, but the presence of TMG shouldn't have kept him from hustling on defense, which he far too seldom did. It's easy to put all our troubles on TMG's back, since he's now departed and was only here for a year, but there's plenty of blame to go around.

Willie was not the team leader he should have been. But I'm not too proud to admit that he might have gotten a bum rap on a few things.

I believe there is sufficient evidence to suggest that TMG was at the root of many of our problems. As I look back on our season with the advantage of hindsight, I think it's possible that Tommy was not happy when Coach Capel put the ball in Wilie's hands, which may explain why they didn't team well together. Players with one foot already out the door and on their way to a "pro career" are usually more focused on self than what is best for the team. I suppose that could describe Willie as well. But if TMG went public with his intentions after the CU game, I think it's reasonable to assume that his mind was made up to leave OU, long before that game was played.

I disagree. As Capel has said many times, Warren brought of lot of criticism on himself by the way he acted.

Willie most likely didn't deserve ALL the criticism that was piled on here but it is not like Willie was some angel without faults this year.

I'm glad Willie was a Sooner but before I sing a player's praises too loudly, first and foremost, they ABSOLUTELY MUST play hard on both ends of the court. Willie was a very good player on the offensive end but he didn't exactly burn up a lot of calories on the defensive end. He won't go down in my history book as a top 10 OU player, that's for sure.

Well, obviously WW doesn't deserve all of the blame, but he also does not get a free pass. I will be glad when we move past the WW, TMG, era and get back to OU Hoops discussions. They came, and now they are gone. I wish them both the best. It is becoming more and more obvious that we had some terrible attitudes on this last team, and I hope that we get a better group of character guys.....

All that I have heard about TMG makes me believe that he was the worst of it.

Willie Warren can't carry Blake Griffins jock!!!

This! Agree wth every word.

If he even cared about an apology he would be back for his JR year. He doesn't care. Like others said, he brought much of it on himself. I wanted WW to come back and prove he is not what everyone said he was. He talked a big game about being a leader and he wanted to replace Blake as the face of the program, well he got his wish. He lead the team to a 13-18 record and instead of coming back and improving the program and his own draft stock, he bailed.

It's going to be hard for many OU fans to root for him in the pros.

Once again Mizzy speaks with great wisdom. The WW and Tmg era has passed. Some of you are getting ready to be surprised about how Coach Capel gets the program back on track. Some of you had him out the door, but last I checked he's still the coach. Don't be surprised if we pick up a few recruits along the way. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap

I've got no big problem with Willie.
I thought he should have come back, but I'm not him.
I'll be rooting for him in the pros.

That said, it's highly unlikely to impossible that he ends up as the best OU pro ever...
