A lot needs to go right for any team to win there, let alone a team that isn't elite/great. But ultimately, even if you do a lot of other things well, you have to make big shots to hold them off. KU made a run at Baylor and midway through the second half, it looked like it was going to be yet another game where KU rode the home crowd and the opponent wilted. But then Baylor (Butler in particular) made three or four big shots to regain control, and that was that. Some of his makes came on questionable shots, but you need that kind of thing to happen.
Our last win there came in a year we didn't make the tourney and KU ended up making the FF. It happened because Terry Evans shot the lights out. (I saved the next day's Wichita Eagle and still remember the headline.) Of the small number of games Self has lost in Allen, a high percentage seem to involve one player on the other team going off. We have some candidates, but can anyone actually do it? Sure would be nice if our Big Two both got off to good starts and built confidence.
