OU has completed approximately one third of the season. (if you assume 3 Big XII Tournament games and four games in the NCAA Tournament, OU will play 37 games on the season, assuming I can count).

13 games in and Hield is 47-94 from 3 for 50%. Woodard is 32-58 for 55.2%. Cousins is 24-55 for 43.6%. Spangler is 15-33 for 45.45%. As a starting five they are 118 of 240 for 49.17%.

Hield is averaging making 3.6 per game. Woodard is averaging just under 2.5 and Cousins is just under 2 and Spangler is at 1.15. If we assume 37 games on the season, which 24 left, Hield projects to make 133 three pointers, Woodard projects to make 92 three pointers, Cousins will have 72 three pointers and Spangler will have 42 three pointers. That is 339 three pointers for the starting five on the season.

The most 3 pointers made in a season was 105 by Nate Erdmann. He shot just under 41% from 3 that season. Buddy should easily surpass that figure. The highest percentage on a season was (I believe) Aaron McGhee. He shot 48.89% on 22 of 45. Both Buddy and Woodard are on pace to due better.

Only six Sooners (excluding Cousins last year) have ever shot 43.6% or better on a season from three point range. Those guys were: Aaron McGhee at 48.89% on 22 of 45 shooting; Tim Hesket at 47.31% on 79 of 107; Q White at 45.45% on 50 of 110; Terrance Mullins at 44.19% on 19 of 43; Ricky Grace at 44.07% on 52 of 118 and Eric Martin at 43.60% on 75 of 172.

One of the best three point shooting teams I recall was the 1988 team when it seemed like OU just rained three pointers. That year Grace connected on 35.89% of his shots making 89, Sieger hit 39.73% making 87 and Blaylock shot 38.81% for another 78 makes. They combined for 254 threes on the season all shooting well but all of them below 40% and as a group shooting 38%.

That was an amazing team and they are no where near what these guys are doing. This group is on pace to hit an amazing 339 three pointers shooting on 49% shooting. If you are worried about Cousin's shooting slump, don't. He shot 40% from three as a sophomore and 45% from three as a junior. HIs shots will fall.
