I really don't think our half court defense will be all that bad this year. Our half court offense.....

.......yea....

a win is a win though. BOOMER

We had open shots. We just couldn't hit them. But anytime you are on the road, shoot a worse percentage than your opponent and win, you must have done something right.

I really like the way the defense played down the stretch. 9 steals for the game is nothing to sneeze at. I really thought the offense would be further along right now (only 8 assists as a team?), but certainly glad to be 5-1.

I thought that our depth was a big asset in this game. We seemed to have more energy than ORU as the game wore on.

Roundtree picking up his 4th foul seemed to be the turning point. ORU was up 8 or 10 when that happened and just fell apart for the 5 or 6 minutes he was on the bench and OU made up all the deficit.

I am not sure that there is a more perfect image to demonstrate my feeling right now than that.

LOL

To be fair, that was the ugliest made field goal I think I've ever seen in my life. :)

Heck all of his field goals were like that. :ez-laugh:

5-1 is great...but it really means nothing. We've won 5 games against terrible opponents(winning 4 of them by 7 pts or less) and our only loss was to a good team but we loss by a few pts short of 30. All we've proven is that we can barely beat below average competition and we can get our butts beat by good competition.

Right now, Kruger is taking an experience team and making them young. These freshmen seem to be the focus of our squad and its making us look bad. The minutes that Hornbeak, Hield, and Cousins are getting is hurting this team and its going to keep us out of the ncaa tournament. And if we don't make it this season..you can be damn sure were not going to make it next season either.

The 3 freshmen are inconsistent but this is still November! LK has to experiment over the next month to determine his rotation. Everyone won't be getting these kind of minutes in Big 12 play.

If ORU played the same schedule as us this offseason I think they would be 4-2. 5-1 playing complete garbage teams isnt anything to brag about.

Only two decents teams we have played are gonzaga and WVU. We went 1-1 which isnt bad....

They would be 3-3. They got smoked by UTEP, also. ORU is a well coached team, were the preseason pick in their conference, playing on their home floor with a long winning streak on the line.

Regardless of the competition, this team IS 5-1. Last years team wouldn't be 5-1. It's called baby steps. We are defending much better and, for the most part, we are taking care of the ball. Once/if we start rebounding and shooting better, we'll find out what kind of team we really have. Like Coach has said, winning tight games away from home, regardless of the level of opponent, is almost impossible to simulate in practice. I like to think we can be the team we have been in stretches but we have to be more consistent in our board work and start knocking down open shots. I've thought all along the team we are just prior to conference play will be what we are. I'm still hopeful it's better than what we've seen so far.
