a lot of crying going on over at orangepower

There you go, We have bits and pieces. Not a single All Big 12 performer on the squad. In the past we we had a James Anderson to hang our hat on.

This and HoHum's post above it describe my opinion entirely about this OSU team.

Penn has been a massive disappointment.

Yeah, some Ok. State fans were pimping him up on the boards last year, and I just didn't see enough production to warrant his hype. Maybe he'll improve, but right now he hasn't shown he can be as good as some Poke fans thought.

Propoke -- we just have a difference of opinion on a few things. Not that I care really, but I think Franklin can play on the wing -- he certainly isn't big enough to play inside. I agree Page is the only one with a high basketball IQ, but he is a complete defensive liability and makes the entire defense weaker as people try and compensate to help him. I would play page in the right spots but neither he or penn can defend the 1 and Dowell can and does when he is in the game. Your lineup is also Ford's lineup. To each his own.

Moses and Olukemi are good enough to be all big 12 if OSU wins enough games. I still say the best defensive lineup is Dowell, Franklin, Olukemi, Pilgram and Moses, and so this would be my lineup. I say my lineup beats your lineup 8 out of 10 games. To bad we will never know.

As a basketball junkie, it is fun to discuss, but like I said, I really don't care

The optimism was warranted after the first half that he had last year.

One could argue that, after Anderson, he was our second most consistently good player last year before his injury.

He averaged close to 10 ppg with something like a 1.7 assist/TO ratio before he was injured. That's a very solid performance for a true freshman point guard.

He's not shown near that kind of consistency this year, which is what's been disappointing.

I agree with your lineup with one exception: I would put Markel Brown in for Franklin.

A lineup with Dowell, Brown, Olukemi, Pilgrim and Moses would be tremendously athletic...

Poke fans like to talk about the Buffs shooting 34 free throws to OSU's 14. Well how about this disparity: Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse, the Jayhawk women shot 32 free throws to OU's 3. Of course, the Sooners won the game anyway.

Now that's some real home-cooking.

I don't disagree that being optimistic was warranted, but not to the extent that I remember it being last year. Thought it was too premature to hype him as much as I remember Poke fans were doing, considering he only played in a few games that weren't against cup cakes (Rhode Island, Pacific, Tech, and Baylor if I remember correctly). And since he didn't do anything in half of those games (Pacific and Rhode Island), I didn't think the sample size was large enough for the extent of the hype it appeared he was getting. Just my two cents.

Over Obi, Page, AND Moses? I think you would have an up-hill battle presenting that argument.

OSUjeff -- I really haven't seen enough of Brown to compare him to Franklin. However, Franklin is verstile, tough and pretty cagey. He's my kind of player. In the games I have watched, Brown really didn't get to play much. He does look athletic though.

Not sure what is going on with OSU this year. I like Ford but in the game I went to (non conf.) he substituted so much I couldn't keep track of who was in the game. You would have though Roy williams was coach. It was insane. The only player that played extended uninterrupted minutes was Moses. Otherwise, it was a revolving door. There are a lot of good coaches that do that, but I don't and never have seen how you develop any consistency with that approach.

If OSU is the third most talented team in the conference then Travis Ford must be a really bad basketball coach.

Or, he has a few head cases on the team which can make things difficult. Er, wait, does that also make him a bad coach?

The ability to control your team is a pre-requisite of being a good coach...at any level.

Even more crying today about the refs. OSU has never lost a game because they aren't good enough, the refs make them lose. I love it

Just wait and see the reaction if they lose to us in Norman. It'll be epic! But I'm also sure they can find ways to invent some major conspiracy to make it happen, if we do get that one in the Win Column. That'll be the ultimate Cletus Convention. :eddie187_jpg_xs:

One thing is for sure, Capel is doing a GREAT coaching job this year. Those guys didn't look like they would win a single conference game a month ago.
From an osu fan, this big 12 season is crazy.
