I thought he did a MUCH improved job at the 1 last night. I understand UT didnt apply a lot of on-ball pressure in the backcourt - but he still looked much better IMO than at other times in the season to date.

On man to man D, he watches the player's head instead of his waist.... therefore he does not stay in front of his man very effectively. He never draws a charge. Better coaching needed

Better than Walker! Offensively I think he could be pretty legit. Solid shooter and quick with the ball. Def a role/backup player but I can live with him!

He is more of a 2. Too much one on one to be a point guard. He is a pretty good shooter when he doesn't force it.

I didnt say he was perfect. He just seemed much more competent last night. I would give him a thumbs up!!

When he crashed and burned on that lay up attempt I thought what else could go wrong but once he got up it didn't seem to bother him the rest of the night.

He forces a lane and he doesn't have all the finishing moves to always get the 2. BUT, that said, he IS fearless and when he takes a lane that is given and pitches then he does pretty good. I have seen him drop some nice dimes. Maybe knowing he's there to start takes some pressure off of being a spark plug coming off the bench.

I'm anxious to see what Strong-Moore can do next year when his injured shoulder is not a factor. Even if the pain is tolerable, knowing it could go out on him at anytime has to affect his concentration. The strap he wears also seems to bother him some, because he pulls and tugs at it quite a bit.

It should not be a surprise to anyone that I want to see what a healthy Strong-Moore can do as a backup to Trae Young.

most certainly. I think this sets up well for Trae, Strong-Moore, and Shepherd all 3.

Spent a lot of time this week reading Trae Young material and watching his clips. It's a joy watching him play. I think he would fit in well here.

SM could be a solid backup point guard. It will help having the shoulder fixed and another summer of practice but he isn't a starter on a good team.

IMO, he's a 2-3 minute guy to give the starter a breather. The offense struggles with him at point and he doesn't value ball security enough to play more than that. Heaven help us if the starting PG gets into foul trouble.

I've never seen a PG that once he touches the ball wants to instantly jack up a 3 point attempt with many of them bad shots.

If Young comes & SM gets healthy and is better than Shepherd, does Shepherd redshirt? I feel teams should redshirt kids more, but the way things are now they would probably transfer.

As to shoulder surgery, SM told me at a preseason practice that the doctors said surgery might help but the shoulder could still come out. I forget who had a similar issue years back but I remember hearing that back then, surgery isn't a sure fix.

I posted about that a couple days ago. Shep redshirting would be great for his progress and especially for the program because it leaves a PG for 2 years after Young leaves (assuming Young is at OU for 2 years).

Agreed, Shepherd just has too many holes right now to play significant minutes (even though this year he has to). But in 2 years if he works he could be a serviceable big12 pg. I still don't see him making the jump like Cousins bc of his athleticism & toughness.
