You need a Spangler type on your roster at all times imo.

I know OU has three nice bigs coming in, but you better add a physical big that sets the tone under the basket in crunch time.

No one with the strength of him.... The bigs coming in are skinner athletes.

Lattin is a stud.

These are some stats that were provided right before Christmas:
OW RT @D1Circuit: C Khadeem Lattin (@just_khadeem): 22 PTS, 16 REB, 11 BLK, 10 STL, 5 AST for RCHA in a win #QuadrupleDouble

@just_khadeem: 17 pts 20rbs 5 blks 5 steals yay

@D1Circuit: C Khadeem Lattin (@just_khadeem): 12 PTS, 17 REB, 4 AST, 3 STL for RCHA in a win over Bridge City @HoustonHoops17U http://t.co/6f7bBtqSwq

@D1Circuit: C Khadeem Lattin (@just_khadeem): 13 PTS, 10 REB, 10 AST, 8 BLK, 2 STL for RCHA vs Prestonwood #HoustonHoops #SOONERS http://t.co/6f7bBtqSwq

@D1Circuit: C Khadeem Lattin (@just_khadeem): 14 PTS, 17 REB, 6 BLK for RCHA in a win over St. Thomas. #SOONERS #EYBL http://t.co/6f7bBtqSwq

I think he is going to come in a contribute immediately. His paternal grandfather played in the NBA. His mother played in the WNBA. This kid has great genes.

I asked coach Crutchfield the other day what kind of competition Lattin was hanging these gaudy stats on. He said, that relative to Okla. HS basketball, not every night, but, usually 5A or 6A type competition.

He said that the night before the A&M game that he an Coach Kruger attended. I think it was the 22-16-11 night. Lattin was going up against a 6'10" kid that was an Texas A&M commit.

Make no mistake, Lattin was a big time recruit who had offers from a number of high majors. He was a top 25 recruit in his class once, before he dropped out of the rankings when he spent a year overseas.

Lattin is one of the more intriguing prospects. At one point in time, he was considered one of the top 25 prospects in his class, but he went and spent a year at the Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain as a sophomore in high school. The goal of the experience was to allow Lattin to get a taste for European hoops and experience something outside of high school in America, but it also may have cost him his spot in the top 100 rankings.

My point is that he still has a lot to learn, but by every report I've read he has an unlimited upside. He also needs to put a few pounds on his frame. But a 6' 9" kid with his length, athleticism and ability to block or change shots the way he is doing now, should contribute almost immediately, especially on defense and on the boards. He's exactly what we need to give Spangler more help down low next year.

If Bennett works hard in the off season to improve his game, we should be in good shape with our frontcourt depth. Most Juco players improve the most from their junior to their senior seasons.

That's a mature choice for a young man. Instead of being obsessed with his own hype, I'm glad he decided to go experience the world and work on his game. You've got to take the opportunity to gain that kind of life experience when it is given to you. Most people don't get that chance so young and many people never do.

As seniors, both Cam Clark and Tyler Neal are having their best seasons as Sooners. D.J. Bennett could do the same next season, and the athletic 6'9" freshmen (Khadeem Lattin and Jamuni McNeace) will certainly be given every opportunity to play in the post.

Spangler's best traits are that he plays hard, aggressive and smart. He could also be a team leader next year as he helps teach the new guys to play the same way.

+1

Nothing will be better for those fresh faced posts than to get welcomed to college ball by Spangler attacking them, banging on them in practice. Maybe the three can arrive in the earlier summer and put 10+ pounds of good mass on before fall...

Lattin and McNease are much different than Spangler. I bet McNease RS and lattin and Buford play right away.
Plus Spangler for 2 more years!
