Baylor edges Winthrop

Baylor has been to three Final Fours, same as OU. They won two. We didn't.

We haven't been on probation yet, nor have we had any national stories about being bad for women's basketball.

When I look at the graduating players for OU, I am usually proud of them as women. I feel that they can make a good mark on the world.

Wonder how they feel at Baylor? I've seen a couple that obviously didn't learn much---anywhere.

I think if we go into on and off the court accomplishments and mistakes/life lessons of both teams (including the coaches)...we'll find that most have made some mistakes...have some regrets. Pretty typical for folks in their late teens and early 20's. I'd like to think that most teams mostly have some pretty neat ladies when it's all said and done.

Probation...national stories, well maybe not so much but let's not forget the unfortunate death of one of the former players due to domestic violence. The relationship was ongoing at OU. Plumley had some sticky fingers. Stuff happens EVERYWHERE. We hear about some of it and some of it we don't. Yes, OU WBB has done a great job overall in the community and avoiding NCAA infractions. But there is enough scandal in some of our other sports to cover several universities.

Don't give the "everyone does it" excuse. I want to know why you regard yourself as an OU fan.

I think you need to be on the Baylor site. Nearly all of your posts for years have been a condemnation of Sherri. I would like to know:

----did you go to OU?
----why do you come to this board?
----why would you regard yourself as an OU fan?

+1!

Well, I "think" you should consider changing how you evaluate my posts. But you're probably somewhat like me and really don't care what others "think" when it comes to voicing your opinion. Not that I owe you a bio or the pleasure of an interview, but I'll humor you:
1. Not an OU alum
2. I visit and contribute comments to "this board" because the guidelines for posting allow me to do such. If the rules change where I cannot give my honest opinion...then I'll reconsider.
3. I have been an OU fan along with most of my family members (natives of OK) for many years because we have always enjoyed sports and contributed to the FB and WBB programs over the years through attendance, in-kind and monetary contributions.

I'm one that calls it like I see it. The things SC has done well, I've given her props! Where she has failed or has not done well, I mention it. She's a big girl and surely she can take it. Does it bother you? Is this a forum for warm and fuzzy feelings only? If so, let me know!:)

I didn't give the "everyone does it" excuse. I gave specifics of where OU WBB has had instances of player behavior that was not necessarily glowing. You already asked that question about "OU fan". I've answered it while you were busy asking it again. Merry Christmas!

Jeez, Syb, your ganGREEN issue never stops, does it? You ask what BU WBB Grads have done to help the world? Last summer I read this article about Chelsey Whitaker, point guard for the 2005 championship team. She survived a hail of bullets at the Dallas BLM parade and is trying to help Dallas citizens see the need for balance and reason. You asked for an example...

I'm proud of the Sooner grads who move on toward lives of substance, promise, and service. I just don't think OU owns a corner on the market on producing good citizens.

Merry Christmas to ALL-- Crimson, Orange, Purple, Green, Burnt orange, Scarlet/black.... Peace and Grace to All...

An admirable young woman. But, is this the exception to the rule? We are seeing more and more of the problems at Baylor that extend well beyond Kim Mulkey. A culture of suppression of evidence that might interfere with the success of an athletic program, sweeping things under the rug, and placing the development of winning teams above anything else has led to the dismissal of coaches, various members of the administrative staff, and even the president of the university. It looks like Baylor decided some twenty years ago that winning took precedence over a university, and championships trumped principle.

When I look at the women graduates of most universities who have played basketball, I usually see women in whom one could be proud, and a relationship with the university that inspired that pride. I don't see that at Baylor. I see you tube videos of former Baylor players, graduation uncertain, who are incapable of speaking English, but who are starting their own basketball school, as an example. I see a young woman who left a title team and rejected the university, two young women who felt that they could not admit they were gay while at Baylor, and, mostly, a group of girls who learned more about how to win than about life, their roles in the world, or how to shape the world. I wouldn't be on this board defending anything Baylor. I think I would be outraged if this were to be the atmosphere at OU, and I would be making demands of the Regents rather than defenses of the perpetrators of this misdirection.

I look at Baylor women basketball program as only basketball program. I see a program that is the only elite program in the big 12. I see much jealousy from other big 12 fans, I read fans on here posting about how the Baylor coach looks. I see the best "basketball coach in the big 12 by far" If other programs are tired of Baylor women basketball dominating the big 12 those schools should make changes with their coaches, spend more time on the recruiting road..ect.

Some on here are obsessed with Mulkey and Baylor.

And, some of us don't even want her considered for discussion on any "university-friendly" message board. Let her go pro. But, get her and her discussion remain out of academia.

And yet, even though he/she want her considered on OU hoops, Sybarite never misses a chance to vilify Kim M. And although a paragon of academic rigor, Syb's cherry-picking "research" of Lady Bear failures yields what? 5 or so young women who doesn't meet the Syb Standard? Lets not forget that OU WBB players have left school unhappy, broken the law and washed out for various reasons. And not all of them are experts at elocution, either. My soul, these are fallible young adults.. Should the blame for their missteps and failures to reach potential always lay at the feet of their university?
K. Mulkey isn't going anywhere... she will retire at BU.. and the way she's recruiting she will contend for more banners-- Big 12 and Natty.
Meanwhile I'm not near ready to start writing Sherri's coaching obit...I know the competitive fires still burn bright in SC and with more signees like Dungee, Nancy, Ana , et. al the Sooners can return to prominence...

Don't bright trash up, and we won't discuss trash, i.e., no discussion of Kim.

So you are telling us that the Baylor girls speak like you write? :D Just funning. Seriously though Kim is the coach of our #1 conference rival in WBB and discussing her is appropriate on an OU WBB board despite your dislike for her. Just ignore the discussions regarding Kim and your problem goes away as it does for those that want to discuss the subject.

Of course if you become a moderator with the authority to ban posters you will have some say so. That is until they revoke your authority. During the interim just grin and bear it.

And, that defines trash.

There is no way that someone with that mentality should be at an "academic" institution. Of course, that is beginning to be a question. Does academia tolerate a coach and president who must be terminated because they kept sexual assault under wraps?

I'm not sure if Kim created the culture at Hypocrite U or the culture of Hypocrite U infected Kim, but sure seems like a match made in heaven!!!

Wow...The NY Post, huh? Now that's a venerable institution of journalism...
Robin Williams once said his stand-up routine: If you placed your cat on a copy of the Post, the cat wouldn't s**t on it, because that would be redundant...

That may or may not be. It is difficult for anyone defending anything to do with Baylor to criticize anyone. Wasn't it Kim Mulkey who criticized Nyesia for taking a three-point shot with a twenty-point lead? She wants everyone else to refrain from using her tactics on her.
