Hoops, not football. Looking at what OSU is trotting out there, and I know they will improve, but I'll be a little disappointed if OU doesn't sweep. That is not a very good team they have.

Have you watched us play? Have you looked at the KenPom ratings?

If the answer is no on both counts, I think you might be surprised.

Strength of Schedule = 203

I'm aware that our better non-conference competition is ahead of us. The Maryland game will be the real measuring stick.

But also note that KenPom's ratings are adjusted for SOS, and you can still notice things about teams regardless of the competition.

For example, OSU destroyed the Tulsa team that just easily beat Creighton.

We also beat North Texas by 30 without our best player (Nash sat out because of "violation of team rules".. :facepalm) right after they gave Arkansas all kinds of trouble in Fayettville.

And yes I'm fully aware that the transitive property doesn't always work, but it's also not something you should totally ignore.

The main thing that I would say is watch the team play. You can tell a lot just from watching them. The ball movement on offense and team defense are both as good as I've seen them under Ford. I don't know if this is the James Dickey effect that we're seeing, or the Ewing Effect sans Smart or a combination of both; but the team just looks different this year than it has in the past few.

At the end of the day, it may not matter all that much because the Big 12 is so tough. But I'm telling you that if you think this OSU team is "bad" then you really need to watch them.

have watched .... no quality depth ...and nash still cant shoot

It should be a good match up this year. At this point I see the ol' 1-1 coming this year. We shall see. Going to learn more about OSU over the next few weeks, but the schedule seems to be getting weaker with mizzu and memphis looking pretty bad. Saturday will be telling, first true road game.

Nash is 51% fg and 82% ft. I'd say that is pretty good shooting. 0 from 3 but he has taken maybe 3 shots from behind the line. That will drop when the competition steps up though.

I don't see any reason we should expect to be better than OSU. Their best player is better than ours. Other than that the starting 5s are pretty much equal. Neither bench is much to write home about. A split is very likely.

It's funny that this is the first season of the Ford era people on this board have not been gushing about how good aggy is going to be (especially ABD). Watch it be the year they actually are good. That would be par for the course.

Both of these statements tell me that you don't know what you're talking about.

Based on your comment in another thread, I'm just about certain that the only game you've watched was the Oregon State game, which has been the outlier on the season, in terms of bench contributions.

So... sample size and all.

Did Tulsa beat Creigton in Omaha?

They're a totally different animal at home, and I guarantee they got up for OU a little more than they would in Tulsa coming to town.

What was OSUs streak at home? Is it they won so many non conference games at home? If you're proud of the home streak OSU had, you gotta give Creighton a lil credit for being a tough place to play.

It was a bad loss, in that OU blew the horrible lead, but oh well.

Surprised they aren't say how bad Wisconsin is after losing to Duke.

Nobody is saying it's a perfect correlation. Of course there is a home court advantage/disadvantage. Everyone knows that.

But it's also not "nothing." The plain fact is that, on a neutral court, OSU blew the doors off a team that easily beat Creighton.

Does that mean OSU > Tulsa > Creighton > OU? Of course not.

But does it mean that OSU just might be better than the OP is giving them credit for? Possibly.

Or maybe you are biased?

Let it play out. Then, come talk to me when OSU finished in 6th place or worse this season. I just don't see it. Too many players that aren't living up to what they needed to be, for OSU to make any noise.

I never expect to sweep OSU, even when we're the better team. But I love it when we do.

KenPom and pretty much all data-based metrics are meaningless with so little data at this point.

Do you think you are totally without bias when you watch OSU basketball?
