Deloss Dodds on possibility of Big 12 expansion: "It is absolutely 'No.' Not a thought, not a conversation, nothing."
If Arkansas and LSU wants to come then bring them. Otherwise keep it as is. We should have gone to the SEC anyway.
Arkie and LSU leaving the SEC for the Big 12-2 is a pipe dream. I don't see any schools out there that would be beneficial to our conference.
The city of Houston is a UT and A&M town. The Big 12 already owns the Houston market. The U of H would add virtually no TV sets to the equation.
garyeb2 and the bigabd,
You are going to have to explain the logic of adding the U of H to the Big 12. They have no following. There are high schools in the Houston-metro area who have more fans than the U of H. It is a commuter school whose students stay away in droves from athletic contests. And once they are alumni they definitely don't come back for games. Even when the U of H was respectable in football in the old SWC and had a nationally ranked basketball program, they didn't draw that well. The city of Houston is a UT and A&M town. OK, i'll try. First, if TV sets and current home attendence is the criteria. The conference needs to drop Iowa State, Kansas State, and Kansas. Houston draws almost as well as those now and they play in a weak conference with weak attractions as home opponents. If Houston was playing a Big 12 Conference schedule, I imagine there would be enough people in the 4th largest city in the country that turned on the TV. And besides that. We could probably beat them every year.
