Atkins was injured for a part of the year, and she really didn't blossom like they thought. Had some good games.

I think she was easily the most deserving, but based on player of the week honors (selected by different people I believe), I think she was very lucky to win it. Several won that weekly award more then she did:

Besides Gabbi, Lauren Aldridge, the freshman PG at Kansas really impressed me. Her stats are comparable to Gabbi's.

I have never seen that explained. They just say media members from the area or something like that. I get the impression it is led by Wendell Barnhouse. But I think they keep the actual selectors a secret.
