Big 12 Preview

I think the Big 12 will only get 3 bids this year. Between us and Baylor for the 3rd one. Conference is soooo bad this year

Its also pretty ridiculous how he hints at a possibility of having only 2 big 12 teams...no mention of us in there anyway other than Kruger

4 teams at least maybe 5. Ku osu Baylor ou and isu

TCU and West Va. didn't look to good tonight.....

TCU lost to Longwood, who lost to South Carolina by 40 their first game...TCU did have about 5 guys out with injuries.

and West Va. lost to Virginia Tech which doesn't sound to bad except V Tech lost their first game to USC (that would be the USC Upstate Spartans).:facepalm

Texas also got all they wanted by south alabama, and baylor barely beat south carolina

Overall I think this guy misses the point about the coaches in the Big 12 but this line had me cracking up:

Don't get me wrong — I'm not saying that these are the best coaches in college basketball. Some of these guys are future Hall of Famers and some of them are Travis Ford.

That's funny right there, I don't care who you are.

I would contend his final comment is wrong based on two separate years. In 1988 KU won the championship, OU played in the championship game, ISU, KSU and Missouri made the Tournament. KSU played in the great 8.

He could argue he is correct because Missouri and ISU lost in the first round meaning the fourth team was not the closest but I think 3 teams being in the great 8 is better than two teams in the sweet 16.

He also fails to consider 2002 when the Big XII had four teams in the great 8. KU and OU both played in the final four. Missouri and Texas were both in the great 8. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech were both in the tournament. Honestly, I don't get how he justifies his answer and suspect he simply forgot about this year.

Why do you people say things like this? That has never happened and it is never going to happen. The conference has two final four contenders and that is before we even learn if OU, Baylor, ISU, KSU, or WVU is any good. I don't expect much from Texas, Tech or TCU.

We already get screwed for living in the middle of the country. A greater portion of the media is in the northeast and on the west coast. They have a regional bias. Don't support their regional bias by making statements like this. We have a great basketball conference. Is it slightly down, yes because Texas is way down but other than that there is nothing wrong with this conference.

I see little chance the Big 12 doesn't send 5 teams, at least.

Besides KU... who is the other final four contender?

He lost me when he picked Smart as his "best college player?" Marcus would definitely be in my top five. But I saw three players last night, all freshmen, who are better than him. No way Smart is better than Parker, Wiggins and Randle. Those guys are scary good.

I think the writer is saying Smart is the best college player in the conference (which would eliminate Parker and Randle from the discussion)...he then says Wiggins is the best pro-prospect, in the conference.

We pokes are perimeter laden. Our backup guards Forte and Clark could start in the backcourt for a lot of teams. However we will only go as far as the front court will take us

Yeah, you may be right. Even so, I would still pick Wiggins over him. I'll buy second best, though. Marcus is plenty good. I'm glad he won't be around next year.

But that should benefit the top of the conference. TCU, WVU, Texas, and Tech could all provide 6-8 conference wins each to the top 5 teams in the league.
