A good day today and the Big XII might get 7 teams in the NCAA Tournament. Today the Big XII has the following games:

OU v. A&M
OSU v. Colorado (no 20)
Kansas v. Georgetown
Texas v. MSU (no 5)
KSU v. Gonzaga (no 21)
ASU v. Tech
WVU v. Purdue
TCU v. Tulsa (not a huge game but a TCU win helps)

There are not many games after this weekend the conference can lose baring an upsets. 7 teams might be a stretch even if with a great day today but I would love to see the conference push its RPI further ahead today.

You're right, this could be an important day when Selection Sunday rolls around. A good showing in today's games and the Big 12 could get at least six teams in the dance. Barring an unexpected collapse, I think the conference is already a virtual lock for 5 teams, with 6 a very good possibility.

One thing is certain, we'll have a better idea about the strength of the Big 12 when today's game are over.

A Tulsa win would impact conference RPI but not so much OU's since we have played them and beat them.

Yes, but since OU will meet TCU twice in conference play, a TCU win might be better in the long run.

Not that it matters, TCU took care of business with a win by 12.

A strange play in the KU-Gtown game. Perry Ellis took a blow to the head on a drive to the basket. He looked woozy when he stepped to the line. When his free throw was wide of the rim by three to four feet, he pointed to his head, went to the locker room and never came back. I have seen players shoot air balls before, but never saw a miss that went wide by that much.

Sure hope he will be okay. He clearly was not when he missed that free shot.

And as a testament to how excellent the Big XII TV contracts are most of those games headline the national TV slate today. The exposure all 10 teams in the conference are getting nationally is unprecedented.

Agreed. Today's games could be huge for the conference on the national stage.

Two games in the books, six to go. TCU wins by 12 and KU destroys Georgetown 86 - 64.

Pretty good day so far. OU, KU, KSU and TCU have won their games. Texas and Tech lost. OSU plays tonight and should win. I haven't seen anything on the WVU v. Purdue game. When is that? Did I get the day wrong?

WVU plays Purdue tomorrow at 1:00 on ESPNU.

I want OSU to win. I am watching now. It is a bit difficult to watch Marcus Smart throw himself on the ground and still pull for OSU but an OSU win helps OU.

OU is OSU's big brother in basketball, so your post doesn't make sense.

Do we need someone to post the numbers again for you?

Hoping for your rival's loss at no current benefit to the program you cheer for and at the expense of your conference's and your team's RPI is pretty much the definition of little brother syndrome in the college sports world. How is that not obvious?

No, it's not.

In order to have little brother syndrome, you must be jealous of a superior rival/team and act out in such a way. Since OSU is obviously not OU's superior, your comments don't make any sense. Please don't make me explain it again. Ask one of your smart friends to correct you, as I'm tiring.

As for why I won't root for OSU?

Just off the top of my head....

1. I think Travis Ford is a clown. A loser. A gimp. His actions throughout his coaching career are not those worthy of someone I would pull for in an athletic competition.

2. Conference RPI is not the only effect OSU's basketball prowess has on OU

3. Nash. This point is self explanatory.

4. OSU fans. Most of them are nice enough, but my experience at the Bedlam football game still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. (As a note, if you were to hate OU football and always root for them to lose, that would be little brother. I hope this note helps show the difference)

5. Did I mention Travis Ford is a little Napolean *****?

6. The Sutton family is a disgrace to college basketball

Is that enough reasons besides some measly RPI?

I will never pull for OSU basketball. Ever.

Signed,

Big Brother.
