Your act is really growing tiresome. Look, I try to be a positive fan also. I was very miffed at all the negativity earlier this season. But we just went 13-18 and right now there is little to no hope that we will be able to surpass that win total next year. In fact, it is looking like we could struggle to hit the double digit mark in wins. That is totally and completely unacceptable. If that materalizes, Capel should and will be fired. Period.
Respect your posts a bunch, but what is wrong with seeing how things play out and staying positive in the meantime? There is not a fan on this board who has control over what will happen over the course of the next 12 months. If the next season is another 13-18 disaster, the coach will be fired, but between now and then, it does absolutely no good to tear apart the guy that is going to be the coach, particularly during a time when the program needs all the support that it can get.
Next years team is not "terrible" as-is.

What we absolutely NEED is another Post and another (okay, ANY) PG, and it sounds like we are still in on quite a few quality players in the late signing period because we have minutes to offer. If we can get contributions from the newcomers and Gallon steps up his game to a 5* level, we could be a solid team. What is the latest on Carter? If we can get him, the kid out of Vegas, and a solid post, I think we can be competitive.
what if Gallon isn't back?
financial advisor/agent
He wasn't an agent, which makes the situation completely different in the eyes of the NCAA. He is probably looking at a short suspension and he will be required to pay the $3000. The Bomar situation had to do with an OU Booster. The situation is completely different. And I won't even get in to the possibility that Coach O could have been fired for the multitude of minor violations that he committed.
All I can go by is what is being reported and has been seen by posters on here, Tiny is going to class, is hanging out with the team and attending various OU related sporting events...sorry, but that does not sound like a guy that is on his way out.

Ok, another post player is now gone...so we ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY need two post players...and a PG. :ez-laugh:
Still feel the same level of confidence in our ability to be competitive next season?
Good Lord Mr B, with your level of intelligence I"m sure you understand the difference between a "positive frame of mind" and "dealing with the reality of the situation".We either will or we won't, but in the meantime I'm going to stay positive about where the program is at. Not sure why keeping a positive frame of mind is so derided around here....oh, wait, never mind.

Having only one legit post player over 6'7" on the roster whose eligibility is in question, and having ZERO point guards that are Big 12 caliber on the roster as of April 14th is a legitimate reason to begin to deal with the reality of the situation.
Here is the deal, last week people were ripping Capel for interviewing at schools (when he wasn't) and calling for his head because a JUCPO PG and another JUCO SG committed elsewhere (although now it appears that OU will get a visit from both). Then, an assistant that just about everybody on here has said stunk resigned, and the dots get connected all the way to he was a part of whatever the heck is going on with Gallon...again, fire Capel because if Coach O knew, then Capel must have known (but NOBODY on here knows why Coach O left, just more "connect-the-dots"). Is there anybody here that thinks that OU was getting it's $185,000 per year out of Coach O? It is the simplest answer to why he is gone, but instead it is blown up into "Gallon-gate".
I get it, its a message board and thus most people are going to be negative types. But the few of us who are positive and respectful of a coach who is a year out of getting us to an Elite Eight are treated like village idiots or something. You want to talk about dealing with "reality" and I'm all for it, but maybe the people that should start are the one's that have connected the dots and speculated this place into a frenzy of negative vibes or statements towards a guy and a program who, at most, are guilty of having one bad season. That's it, one bad year. Is it his fault, yes...and he has said that he has every intention of doing his best to fix things. Why get bashed for wanting that guy to get the chance?
As to the current state of the roster, what you've thrown out there is the reality as of today, but the late signing period hasn't started yet and we have no idea who OU is or isn't in on or going to end up with. Is it asking to much to see how that shakes out before people fold up on next season and start in with the "fire Capel because our team is going to suck next year" talk? It has already begun...and the "hot" candidate is a guy who has had numerous off-court issues and never even made it to an Elite Eight. Ever! Nobody has pointed me to any film of Aziz, I'd love to see it because a guy that good with his measurables would surely have done something in front of a camera at some point.

I hear ya Mr B and trust me, I do not want to be a "doom and gloomer". However, the reality of what has happened (player departures, lack of depth on the roster forcing us to depend on some VERY un-dependable guys, embarrassing defensive efforts) are the responsibility of the coach....period.
Unfortunately, we DO have a clue who OU isn't going to end up with. Feel free to peruse the list of guys we were "after" that have decided to eliminate us from contention or have already given their verbal commitment to another school.
The list is lengthy and given the fact that we're now pursuing guys that we were not initially after leads me to believe that we're not enjoying the recruiting success that Coach Capel had envisioned and are pursuing secondary and tertiary options.
That doesn't help me to avoid my "doom and gloom" stance.
The problem with most of what you said is that MOST of the "doom and gloomers" (and some looking at the program with favor) CALLED for some of this to happen (lose players, clean house, quit recruiting McD AAs, etc) and NOW you want to use it as evidence the program is falling apart????
