Bryce Thompson timeline?

If it comes down to fan base or the best chances to win a title, then Bryce will pick Kansas. If it comes down to which school will better prepare him for the NBA, I have one thing to say to Mr. Thompson. In the past 30 years, Kansas has had 25 1st round picks and OU 3. Yet if you take the 5 best players from those 28 picks, all 3 Sooners make the cut. In other words, Bryce Thompson has a better chance of making more money in the NBA if he chooses the Sooners. Currently, Blake Griffin, Buddy Hield and Trae Young are better than any current Kansas player not named Joel Embiid.

If he's a one year guy, I won't be too upset if he goes elsewhere (hopefully UNC). I really like our guard rotation this season and next. If he's a two year guy then yes, it would be nice to have him around in 21-22.

I’d love to have him even if just a year, even though I like our guards next year. I’m sick to my stomach that he’s probably going to KU given their eventual sanctions & how Self has acted during the whole process. He’s an amazing coach but I’ve lost all respect for him.

We're going into next season with an extremely experienced and very talented guard rotation. Throwing in a guy like Thompson may not be worth risk of upsetting team chemistry for one year. Who you gonna bench? A junior Bieniemy? A senior Reaves?
It was fun watching Trae kill it for a semester but what did he really do for the long term good of the program?
We'll be good with or without Thompson next year. Now if he was 6'10", I'd be singing a different tune. We could use a guy like that ranked 18th in the country next season.

Take a look at my previous post. There is no reason Trae’s NBA success can’t be used as a recruiting tool, especially with the likelihood he would be nowhere near this far along had he gone to Kansas or Kentucky (which is what his dad is likely reminding Bryce Thompson).

If he wants to be "the guy", he won't be picking OSU, KU or UNC. OU is the only place he will be the guy.

You think Cunningham is going to take 2nd seat to Bryce??? I don't think so...dude loves the spotlight.

If we had supplied any help for him, we'd have had a great season to show for it. Any help at all.

A guy like Thompson would be worth it. I never thought of competition for a spot as a bad thing. I didn’t like the TY experiment but this doesn’t have to be that & I think Kruger acknowledges the errors in that year. However that year makes prospects take notice on how playing style helps their stock.

agreed. we're fine either way.

Yep. Even this year's talent (based on what we've seen so far, though I may be premature in saying so) could have made a huge difference for him.

I still don't understand how the TY "experiment" was anything but positive. That experiment led us to a tournament berth we wouldn't have come close to getting without Trae on that team, got us tons of national exposure we wouldn't have otherwise had, and has led to Trae and his family being huge advocates for the program in recruiting. I guess it would have been more satisfying to play fundamental, team ball on the way to a worse record and an NIT bid at best? I respect your opinion but just don't understand what you mean in this one.

Preach On.

Another site that I trust is saying that OU has a 50/50 shot. There sure our a lot of people telling him that he should go to OU. The Young family, alonzo trier, past players, and now even Roy Williams.

All true. Havent verified Roy but source said the same.

Ill say this... Lack of crowds is hurting but BT knows he can help fill it up next year.

I heard the delusional Robert Allen yesterday on the Franchise. He said 70% to the aggies which I don't think is even close to the truth. Although I never know what kids are thinking.
He also said Bill Self is telling him he will miss all possible NCAA problems because he will redshirt his first year which would be the only sanctioned year. Added that at KU he could work on his game during that time and then be the star. Robert must be on the medicinal pot! There is no way Thompson is redshirting anywhere. He is likely one and done but even if he isn't it's not like he is staying 5 years.

It was positive in a lot of ways & he definitely made OU better. I just hated watching the defense & obvious chemistry issues late in the year. I felt that TY almost gave up as many points as he accounted for.
