I'm convinced that he is our guy for at least two (2) more seasons, maybe more. Be mad all you want, but the guy has "it" and one bad season will not erase it. Sucks that he is starting all over in year five, but barring something completely off the wall, he is OUr guy.

He is 35, and we are all along for the ride; whatever you think, want, or whine about is irrelevant, he is going to be here; why not get on board and support the guy? I think he has learned an important lesson.

Truth is - I have no problem if I know we are actually going to stick it out and stay with him no matter what. In that case I am all for it.

Cool, we are. He is going to get every opportunity to fix this thing, he's not on any kind of hot seat at all.

IMO schools move too quickly changing coaches in college basketball.

Given what has transpired since the end of the season, the long SILENCE from OU and Coach Capel has been very frustrating for me, and for other long-time OU basketball fans. The public conversations by Coach Capel today were good medicine for the fans, IMO. It was certainly good medicine for me.

I think we are all OU Supporters. I also think that Coach Capel deserves our support, but he could have reduced much of our angst if he would have had these public conversations with the fans a bit sooner. I'm not sure that the OU athletic administration gave us fans a second thought prior to today.

Nevertheless, it is always ... better late than never.

Once again, I look forward to the start of another OU basketball season this coming November. I very much hope that the bottom of the valley is past, and it will be uphill from here. Coach Capel said he wants players that are good kids that want to compete. He said that he has learned that it is better to have players that feel they have something to prove. That is music to my ears.

I cannot wait for the next game at the LNC!
I cannot wait for the 9-game losing streak to end.
I cannot wait to see a lot of hustle and determination in Crimson and Cream uniforms.

I remember a coach telling me one time that it was often more productive to look for kids who don't meet all the "ideal height" "ideal wingspan" "ideal weight" numbers yet succeeded.

Given what you saw today cool, name 10 guys that you'd rather have over the next 10 years to lead your program.

Much truth here.

Actually I don't wanna do that.

I think that most coaches with a decent plan and some ability can do well if given a good ten years. Everyone wants success overnight ... but what is often overlooked is that the dynamic a coach might use to have quicker success could torpedo efforts in the long run.

That is sort of what I'm getting at.

First, I'm not a "Capel h8er", I've just never thought he was a good enough coach to take over a top 25 program. I've been proven right in that regard based on the last 3 months.

Second, you don't know anymore than me. You try to paint this picture that you And Joe c meet for coffee so Joe can get your input on the basketball team. Fact is, you may have spoken with Joe on occasion like a number of us but you have no clue how long Jeff will be given to right the ship.

He may get 2 more years but if he continues to have offcourt problems his time will be short. Even shorter than 2 years.

Didn't see big old booger mentioned anywhere in this thread?

Deal with reality, he is going to be our coach this year and the next year, no matter what happens on the court.

I have no problem with him getting the opportunity to turn this around. But if you think Joe C isn't placing some pressure or heat on him, then I want some of what you are smoking.

I think Joe is doing what any good boss would do in this situation.

Not a hater but a season ticket holder since 1981...Capel better be on the hot seat. He made this mess. No excuses. The handling of the team this season was a total embarrassment. I am behind Capel, think and hope he can right the ship but if he is not on the hot seat then our program has sunk even lower than I thought.
