human pogo stick on those boards. Once he gets used to the speed of the game at the D1 level then I have a feeling he will be a beast on the glass.

CJ should be in the game as much as humanly possible... he didnt have the stats today, but the athletic difference between CJ and Nick is obvious.

Agree with this and Big Time. More CJ, less Thompson.

If Clark doesn't start showing more, maybe they both need to be out there?

I don't know if Nick was intimidated, but was caught ball watching a ton. I lost count of how many times he didn't even attempt to box out.

Washington has more bounce than I thought he was going to have coming in this season to play for the Sooners. He and Drew both do a nice job of understanding spacing and positioning in the paint. I wouldn't mind seeing them together with Drew playing more a high post role.

by the end of the year CJ better be working and getting start minutes while thompson fades to a situational player.. the dude is just too limited

I agree. Fitz at the high and CJ low may be our best tandem. Not ready to kill Nick yet though. He will help us win a few this yr, IMO......

I can't quite put my finger on who CJ reminds me of but I just love how quickly he gets off the floor for those rebounds.

You can tell that he is over thinking things at this point, but really, this was his first extended amount of court time this year. Thought he really passed the test.

We are going to need Fitz, Thompson and CJ all to play plenty of minutes. Thompson just may have to play 30 minutes against weaker teams and 20 minutes against team with big athletes. Washington just needed to play more tonight because he and Clark can hang with better athletes.

Now that Washington and Blair are playing and seem like they can contribute assists and rebounds I think this team has a lot higher ceiling. With just the 6 guys we were playing, I thought 15-15 would be tough. But with the 8 guys we have playing now, plus Puma and Neal, we may be deep enough and good enough to win 18-20. Especially since we play hard.

How? I don't think CJ, Fitzgerald or Thompson can play as a small forward in the Big XII. Clark needs to play. People have to remember he is a freshman. I wish TJ Taylor was playing.

I agree, just a stupid statement on my part.

he is a much better rotational defender, and I think he'll be starting next to fitz by conference play.

This was the game were our best players were going to show themselves as well as the ones who really aren't as good as we thought .

Blair proved to me that he is our PG. He help bring us back.

Thompson hurts us...he shy's away from contact and he can't rebound worth a damn.

Washington and Fitz are our best post players.

CJ is definitely starting to put it together and I think the higher level of competition may have exposed Nick as maybe not the player that can compete at this level of bball. If he continues to not block out then CJ should see the bulk of the minutes.
If Nick really wants to do what this team needs him to do to be successful he will box out and get rebounds and attack the rim on the offensive end and stop being so passive. He was a complete non-factor tonight. CJ is progressing, Nick regressed tonight.

The one thing about CJ I worry about as his minutes expand is can he keep his effort up as he tires. Does he have the stamina to attack every rebound possible like he does now in limited minutes?

Its fairly easy to attack everyboard and rotate when you're an energy guy and know you're only going be in for 5 minutes top. If left in for 10 minutes at a time how does he pace himself? His biggest assest right now is his motor, if he slows down I think with his size he could be really hindered in big 12 play.

Is there a particular reason why you worry about his motor, Sam? I mean, the guy averaged nearly 13 a game last year and led the nation and appears to be in great shape to me.

I wonder where he is at with his groin injury right now?

Rebounding in the Oklahoma Juco conference (whatever it is called, Sooner something right) and in division one is a different animal. I just believe with the way he throws himself after rebound it is a difficult rate to continue all game long or if he's playing 20 minutes or more. I hope he could keep it up, it just seems like a tall task. Jumping after every rebounding, getting knocked around like he will given his size can take a lot out of a guy over an extended time.

If defense and rebounding are the two most important factors for this team then CJ needs to play. Thompson can come in to spell him from time to time.
