Ole Miss dude hits game-winning free throws and taunts the crowd. Greatness.

Wow! There WERE at least two people who found it amusing, however: the black guy on the right and the bearded, heavy-set guy at the scorer's table at left. I assume they were both UA fans.

Anyhow, those one-finger salutes and the chorus of "eff-you" show that the Ole Miss player isn't the only one who needs to keep it classy.

How nice of Auburn fans to greet him with their Tiger wave.

That's southern hospitality for you! :ez-roll:

True, but I figure he kind of started it.

If I were his coach, I'd sit him down for a talk.

You'd think hes never made free throws before. A game winning show might warrant such celebration. Free throws are gimmes. He must do backflips when gets an assist.

We don't know what the crowd said about him, his teamates, or his family during the game. As we all know fans have been known to say anything to get under your skin. That could have been his response once the final whistle had blew

This is why you're not a coach, and if you are I'd wager you aren't very successful. Your athletes do good for the TEAM you reward them. You do not discipline them.

Have no idea what the fans said, but all you need to do is read Marshall Henderson's rap sheet to know what kind of person he is.

are you retarded? boasting and showing off does NO good for the team and is a selfish act. any coach i had would have kicked my ass

This.

Henderson does this sort of thing constantly. He is the epitome of "that guy." After every made shot, it's TO running to the star in Cowboys Stadium. He doesn't need to be provoked. He's the instigator.

If that's the case, the crowd should have just turned their backs on him.

Did I say anything about discipline? I said I'd have a talk with him.

And yes, of course I'd praise him for hitting the game-winning FTs. After which I'd inform him that there were to be no more displays like that. The young man doesn't represent merely himself -- he represents his teammates, the coaches, his university, and its supporters and fans.

I am not. They won the game in a hostile environment, but I'm sure the fans said very gracious and humble things to him throughout the game :) You can coach without kicking the sh*t out of your players.

Discipline/instilling a particular behavior, but yes I agree it wasn't the "classiest" thing to do. Got to remember they are kids who don't know everything like you guys.

they've been in hostile environments their whole life playing basketball. they should know not to engage in stuff like that. at a minimum i would have ran his ass in practice until he puked with a firm talking to and I would expect the same from any coach

Sure they have, but the bigger the stage the bigger the temptation. IMO you're just adding fuel to the fire with coaching methods like that, but we can just agree to disagree since your fundamental thinking differs completely from mine.

That's why you have the talk -- to make sure that he understands what he did wrong, why it was wrong, and that he is never to do it again while he is playing for me. Sure kids make mistakes, but it's up to adults to help them learn from them and to set standards and, yes, rules for them to adhere to.
