Daimion Collins - now leaning toward Kentucky

Influence it in what way? Won’t affect how NBA teams analyze him at all. Anthony Davis took the fewest shots of any starter in his one season in college and was still the unquestioned first pick. Anyone who goes to a school like Duke or Kansas or Kentucky knows he will be playing with other elite talent and will have to share the spotlight and touches, but if they play well, they will have plenty of chances to show their talent. I have no idea if Collins cares one way or the other, but if he is leaning Kentucky, that would indicate he isn’t overly concerned about being The Man.

Oh I agree with your assessment just wondering about his thoughts... if he’s shown any leans as to how he sees it. I haven’t read or seen much of him.
Some kids want to be the guy others not.

Schools that have 2021 5* players committed to them (based on 247 rankings):
Auburn
Alabama
Stanford
Baylor
Tennessee
Oregon
UCLA
Florida State x2

You might be able to argue 1 or 2 of those schools is "above OU", but the rest aren't.

For the 2020 class:
OSU
USC
Stanford
Florida State
Texas
Memphis
Arizona State
Tennessee x2
Howard (lol)
Auburn
LSU
Indiana

For the record, I'm not really taking a side in this discussion, but there are examples of programs that I wouldn't consider better than our own that are landing 5* kids. In some cases, those kids are local, but fewer than you might think.

Thanks for the list.

The vast majority of those schools on that list are better situated for hoops recruiting than OU is. I think Oklahoma has the smallest population of any state on the list. Oregon is close, but it's got both Washington and California to draw on (and all that Nike money). OU has proximity to texas, but it has to compete with ut, a&m, Baylor, Houston, Tech and SMU.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but even if it doesn't work out, I'd say Kruger and Co. did a great job in recruiting Collins, to have been in the lead for Collins as late as they were. We're just not going to win many battles against UK (nor would most of the schools on your list). If we do lose out, I'll definitely be disappointed and frustrated but not angry at the coaching staff.

One thing we can all likely agree on is that Lon plays by the rules. Since we don't know what goes on behind closed doors, we really have no idea what he is up against in regards to other schools cheating. That is why I can't get upset when a recruit does not choose OU...as disappointing as this sometimes is.

Assuming for a moment everything is on the up-and-up, I would hope Collins would choose UK because of their fan base and/or a better opportunity to win a title. I hope it has nothing to do with the NBA because he won't lose one penny choosing OU if that's his concern. Trae Young would likely be coming off the bench on an NBA roster right now had he gone to UK...simply because he never would have had close to the autonomy he had at OU, and his development would have been slower.

All Lon can do is make sure the guys he has can develop into the best players they can be. He did a great job with that earlier in his OU career, but it has been more of hit-and-miss lately. At least that part is within his control.

Kentucky= NBA
Oklahoma = Better get that degree
Not a knock against OU just that Kentucky is truly blue blood OU is not.

OU's hopes lies in whether Collins wants to play with friends Noland and Cortez or the other Kentucky 5-stars.

Ou has a much higher success rate in terms of 5* signees who make it to the nba. It isn’t even close either.

I think OU can more than hold its own on claiming nba development.

Do you know if OU is going to try to fill the remaining two scholarships for this recruiting period?

Couple HS kids that are looking at and also transfer market.

No names yet.

Maybe a couple guys already on the roster...

Unless Lon and co pull a rabbit out of a hat, pretty disappointing recruiting cycle. (Supposedly) led for a five star for a long time, and an instate top 50 guard. Lost the Texas point guard we (allegedly) led for. The two guards are decent gets, but man this was the class we were told at different times could be great. It is what it is.

Really disappointing class. I’d bet Kur & Reaves might stay another year.

Sometimes it is a sign of older coaching staff, not keeping in touch with recruits or just not hitting the road much...if any

I get these sentiments but OU cant keep UK from offering 30 days before signing day. Kids never been on Campus, never spoke to a coach until Lucas was hired.

Trey Alexanders recruitment is different. Lot of drama and demands. You know Lon doesnt play those games, with anyone (payton pritchard)

We got 2 top 125 guards locked and loaded. Cant be too disappointed with that so far.

Not disappointed in the staff bc I understand the uphill climb they face. Not getting Collins is pretty disappointing. Cortes & Noland are good gets & I'm sure LK will get a solid pickup, but won’t be as good as getting Collins.

Yeah I say good try to Lon and staff, has to be gut wrenching for them. Hopefully they were smart enough to have other irons in the fire as it was always risky. As far as Alexander, odd that Lon would continue trying to recruit him if he's such a headcase.

Who said they were?
